Track day / birthday PIC HEA?VY 56K NO NO NO

ok well as it was my birthday today i treated myself a while ago and booked a trackday at oulton park, with my uncle as it was his 60th at the start of march, so had an ace day and took loads of bits with me but still had some technical issues, but im happy i got them here and not when i had travelled to the other side of the country to go on track as oulton is only about 50mins from me

ok so set out about 10ish this morning got about 10 miles from work and blew a boost hose off but the car still drives fine like this but with a lot less power all the tools were in the van which my dad was in so drove the rest of the way with this off and fixed it when i got there, had my briefing and did my sighting lap and then headed back out to make sure everything was fine did about 3 laps and then spun it big style stayed on track the whole time did at least a 360 and then carried on pulled into the pits and checked everything all good just a little scare

so back out on track a few more slower laps learning the courners and overtaking a few things but was fairly busy and a few race cars there such as radicals porsche cup cars and some ferrari scuderios bloody go past like you are standing still so about 8 more laps then blew another boost hose , none in nearly a year and 2 different ones in 1 day, so slow lap back tot he pits and reconnect and tighten and then chilled for a while as track was closed as they recovered someone

ok so back out with my cousin in car scared him quite a bit and was now a bit quieter on track so did about 5-6 laps at a good speed getting the hang off the track now, but brakes were starting to fade so slow lap back in to pits parked up and all 4 discs are steaming like mad like smoke you could see think it was the hammerite getting burnt off, sat about 2 mins no engine on then next minute water start ****ing out the top of the rad and next minute boom and no top hose on my rad, so that was the end of my trackday

im happy with how many laps i had done and to be honest this was a test to see where the car needed improvment so dot 5 fluid going in tommorow and a brand new rad back on the road tommorow night, and maybe some better pads for next time now just need to find another one that was as cheap as today

first pics of me and my car

looks like a dam good way to spend your birthday! some nice cars out there too!

looks like a cracking day out, bummer about the hoses though but least it didnt spit a piston or something serious

would that be kev then?

looks like a cracking day

The car looks like a right weapon on track Nige, well done for getting stuck in.

thanks to the photographer and passenger off the day if he decides to disclose himself

hmmm 350D, wonder who that might be...

Nice photo's mate ;)

looks like a good day mate, nice weather for it

Yes it was me  ive been sat looking for another track session for myself all day. If mine was fixed id of been on track aswell :(

That spin was epic  fantastic day and i need to get on track again badly

track day was £85 for open pit lane so track was open from 1:30 till 5PM so as many laps or as few as you like

was a brilliant day and was ace having kev their to give a helping hand and some pointers on track, im made up with how well the car performed just wish i could of video'd it but wasnt allowed as only had a sucker camera mount

im looking now for any other cheap options with not to far to travel but im struggling as we are going in to peak season now

... just wish i could of video'd it but wasnt allowed as only had a sucker camera mount

can you not turn it round so it sticks to the inside of the windscreen like a satnav and points out??

Looks like a good day mate. Cant wait to do one myself :)

What would of happernd if you did spin into the graval? You havnt got a tow eye cover.

next time ill be doing it aswell so be even better. Having the open pit lane made it better to any others ive done as alot more track time. When i do one i want to do open track next. No worries on the line etc its common sense at the end of the day ;) and you got it quick. Cheaper having me in the car than the instructors

Car did handle great apart from that 1 moment on our last lap

no not allowed anything like that unless fixed now

I see the sticker...... Its got to be fairly acesserble for the yow truck to put his winch on.

looks like someone had a good day out. Id like to do some track stuff, but my little 1.4 is pointless

not really Dan, first car i went out around the ring in was a 1.6 8v escort  its all about flowing corner to corner. Whats the point in lots of power if it doesnt handle or stop ;)

Looks like you had a great day mate, told you you`d love it !

Get some EBC yellow stuff pads when you go next, thats what I ve got and they are very good

How did it handle on the big wheels ?
