with me buying my cav turbo my astra has been sat in my garage for near on the last year doing nothing tbh i should have sold it but there was part of me that diddnt wanna let it go so it stayed and latly ive got the mk 3 astra bug back! so ive set about carring out my plans for it and ive been out in the garage messing around.

first job was to start striping it out

thats it for the miniute but so far ive mannaged to find rust rust and um abit more rust so thats abit of a set back

i did take it out for a spin thou and that put a smile back on my face!

I re-sprayed my wheel well + boot at weekend - mint + rust-free!!! Was well impressed :D
You just going to restore it to "normal" rust-free spec, or got any plans for it?

yeap first thing to sort out will be the rust and then im gonna take it from there the interior wont be going back in tho i know that much!

if you need any advice on the rust situation let me know - ive just done exactly the same job on mine (got pics aswell). yours only looks like surface rust which is easy to sort, but take the back bumper off and check around the vent in the rear quarter. mine had blocked drainage holes and had rusted into a large hole

cheers dogsy

The back bumper is coming off as soon as i get a chance. i just aint had any time to crack on with it latley tbh its gonna be abit of a slow project as im gonna save to get the arches done and buy things instead of wacking it all on credit cards etc like i usuaily do. the sale of the cav should help things along tho

yeah chap in plymouth very intrested in it mate just gotta sort a few bits for the m.o.t and give it some genral t.l.c and i think it will be gone in a month!

just hope that when you remove the bumper you dont find anything like this ..........

BTW - the house brick you can see is OUTSIDE the car on the garage floor !!

******* hell, that;s like the cat flap in my back door...LOL

There is a small amount of surface rust in my boot - but i haven't stripped much away yet to be fair.

As soon as i'm past billing it's hopefully all being stripped to sort out some of the dodgy bits :D

De-Rust rear arches (minimal surface starting to show on lip...)- re-spray boot floor etc :)

Might even sort out a disc rear beam while i'm at it :D lol

done a little bit today i removed all the sound deading in the left hand corner of the boot! what a fu*king nitemare that is its left a rite mess and it aint even the same colour y=underneith im pi*sed rite off oh and i found a big hole . see pics!
