    Part numbers, ecp needed again

Rad666 asks>>>What does the clamp cover look like? AR replies>>Oblong is shape, they aren't a simple blind grommet - it looks like something clips into them. Tell me, am I presuming correctly that your roof holes are actually in the metal of the roof? And what shape are the holes? This...

poor sod in NZ needs info from Haynes manual 1222 or TIS 2000

Paul - If you've changed the cambelt or disturbed/replaced the injection pump, you simply can't (as you write) "rotate the (pump) pulley over gently clockwise" and hope that the injection pump timing is correct. You may get lucky, but simply aligning the pulley/sprocket 'blip' with the mark...

poor sod in NZ needs info from Haynes manual 1222 or TIS 2000

Paul - I see why you are confused. When I use the word 'sprocket' I am referring to, what you call, the 'pulley'. Re-read what I've written but substitute my word 'sprocket' for 'pulley'!!

    >>Paul.Spencer wrote>>So I think you must mean I need to remove the outer sprocket to see it. >>Andy replies>>No. The injection pump's sprocket doesn't have to be removed from the pump (unless you are intending to remove the pump from the car). I understand why you are confused - the...

poor sod in NZ needs info from Haynes manual 1222 or TIS 2000

You really need to get yourself a copy of the Haynes (Astra) Diesel Engine book. Ebay is your best bet, eg: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HAYNES-VAUXHALL-OPEL-DIESEL-ENGINE-CORSA-ASTRA-82-96-/380262710447?pt=Non_Fiction&hash=item58896c7caf Regarding your query "How does the injection pump timing...

    gm lump timing

X17DTL camshaft locking tool. Using the tool (with dial gauge) that you mention, you can accurately time the camshaft - but, using that method, the camshaft is not locked in position. Instead, a better option for 'first timers' (pun intended) is to use the circular locking plate tool (see...

    x17dtl tdc?

To 'dumdum 0910'>> From your description, you've obviously lost your cam timing. As 'Vauxhall Jim' says, there is a 'camshaft locating tool' available that bolts onto the vacuum pump end of the camshaft (once the vacuum pump has been removed - a simple job). The tool is a circular plate with a...

    x17dtl tdc?

TDC of number one cylinder can be ascertained by one of three methods: (1) Screw a suitable device (eg 'whistle tool' or depth gauge pointer) into the vacant hole that housed number one injector. Or, (2) Bolt the aluminium pointer tool (made by Franklin, amongst others) onto the bell...

Front Windscreen Jets Come ON when rear jets are being triggered???

If your windscreen washer pump is the same as mine (1.7D LS 1995) then it works as follows: the spin of the pump motor is bidirectional dependent on which way you operate the column control stalk - the motor spins one way for front windscreen squirt, reverse way for rear windscreen squirt...
