Not updated this diary for a while but unfortunately I’ve got nothing exciting to report. Attended VBOA at Sywell with both of the wife's cars (Vectra VXR Estate now sold) and the Astra passed its MOT last Sat having covered just over 500 miles for the year. I've only driven the mk3 to the MOT...

I'm going to end up giving this away as I've had no one intereted in it, maybe if I hadn't had chopped a hole in it and added a French vent and some stainless steel I might have got my asking price of only £10. Come on, someone must want a rust free bonnet with a hole cut in it :(

The mk3 is back on the road again for this year and last weekend rocked over a whopping 60K, it’s doing alright for a 22 year old motor. As the mk3 is still in its Winter hibernation she still got a treat today as I found a pair of Magneti Marelli boot struts, part no.GS0076 going very cheap. These are much like the OE Stabilus version and have the extra damping before they reach full opening. It had a cheap pair on prior to this...

Had similar on my old Calibra SE9. Check the coil pack plug to main loom wiring as the plastic covering can go brittle causing shorts. The coil fires in pairs so might explain why it feels like it's running on 2 if it's shorting out. Strip the wiring cover from plug to manifold & check each of...
