    Fault Code Reading Help

The ECU stores/remembers problems that occured when the engine was running, the fault diagnosis simply reads the stored problems from the memory, and doesn't perform a current problem diagnosis. so it shouldn't make a difference if the engine is running or not. The problems are forgoton when...

    Fault Code Reading Help

its showing two faults.... - Knock sensor 1 - No change in voltage - Engine RPM signal (crankshaft sensor) - No signal (the first set of flashes (12) is just initial diagnosis) pretty sure this is what the fault codes are telling you mate. if you want to know more i use this website...

    dash lights didnt come on

Sounds like a sketchy connection to me. my Clock/Date/Temp thing would do it every now and again. when the engine starts it could be shaking a connection somewhere. I suggest leaving it for now and seeing if it does it again. if it does then check connections.

    idle then dead, take two

mine is doing a similar thing although its not stalling, just dipping revvs and recovering when on idle. the 1.4 spi doesn't have a stand alone idle control valve, instead there is a idle speed motor. this has a valve no the end of it that controls idle speed. This is on the front of the...

    Head Gasket problems

I have recently removed the fan belt, cambelt, sprockets and pulleys so I could change the thermostat after the car overheated the other day. After putting it all back together I have realised there is a pretty major problem with my 1.4 SOHC! when the engine is revved water is forced out of the...

Just doing a bit of work on my old 1.4 SOHC. I changed the thermostat and waterpump, the fanbelt, sparkplugs and airfilter as they were looking a bit tired!! looking at the distributor there is corrosion, wear and burning marks to the contacts. i was just wondering if is possible to just buy...

    change the thermostat, simple enough.....

Cheers for the responces, i agree its a stupid design! Think i am going to have to re-use the old belt and pullys though as i am amazingly skint at the moment!! I don't know a great deal about the history, but i know the belt was changed last year. might look at getting a new water pump...

    change the thermostat, simple enough.....

I think i need to change the thermostat on my astra, it is a 1.4 SOHC. It has been giving all the signs that the thermostat is stuck closed. Reading through my haynes manual has proven this job to but a lot more difficult than first expected! To remove the thermostat housing, the timimng belt...

    light switch ilumination!

hi, I have recently bought a set of LEDs to change all the lights on the dash to blue. The heater switches, MFD and dials are reletively simple to change, but the LEDs for the light switches came with a pack of resitors and require soildering onto the switch. The kit came with instructions...

    Wiring Adapter

The standard stereo fitting is the ISO connection (used in the astra). aftermarket headunits should always either be fitted with an ISO connection or be sold (new) with an ISO adapter (for example sony use their own type of connection and provide a sony to ISO adapter) so any aftermarket head...

    Floor Mounted Sub

cheers for the replies guys. after looking at my boot, i think i have come up with a plan!! i am going to remove the spare wheel mount so i can turn the wheel upside down, then make a fibreglass mould from the inside of the wheel. i will then stick the mould on the bottom of the faulse floor so...
