Make and Model: Vauxhall Astra 1.4 CFi Description FOR SALE £350
Vauxhall Astra 1.4 CFi 3dr
70,000miles
I am selling my Astra as I am having problems with the engine. It is loosing water and misfiring on low revs. I have changed the head gasket but the problem still persists...
The ECU stores/remembers problems that occured when the engine was running, the fault diagnosis simply reads the stored problems from the memory, and doesn't perform a current problem diagnosis.
so it shouldn't make a difference if the engine is running or not. The problems are forgoton when...
its showing two faults....
- Knock sensor 1 - No change in voltage
- Engine RPM signal (crankshaft sensor) - No signal
(the first set of flashes (12) is just initial diagnosis)
pretty sure this is what the fault codes are telling you mate.
if you want to know more i use this website...
Sounds like a sketchy connection to me. my Clock/Date/Temp thing would do it every now and again. when the engine starts it could be shaking a connection somewhere.
I suggest leaving it for now and seeing if it does it again. if it does then check connections.
mine is doing a similar thing although its not stalling, just dipping revvs and recovering when on idle.
the 1.4 spi doesn't have a stand alone idle control valve, instead there is a idle speed motor. this has a valve no the end of it that controls idle speed. This is on the front of the...
its not a missfire, its not that much of a judder. and i have put a new distributor and spark plugs on it. its just a judder if you don't use the accelerator really smoothlly.
as the title says...
I got a 1.4 CFI (single point injection) i think i need a new idle speed motor and injector to solve this problem.
Anyone got any ideas of prices or any other ideas what the problem could be?
Thanks
yea my mate said he didn't completely strip the head when he got it skimmed. i will ask my mate in work what he thinks and if he will skim it.
going to start working on it this evening at 6 when i'm home from work! thats going to be a nice warm job seeing as i cant get the car all the way way...
my engine got very hot recently which is why i started all the work, so i think its well worth getting it skimmed. £30 isn't at all bad, i will have a word with the lads in the machine shop at work though see if i can get it for free!!
and taking the manifold off and leaving it on the pipes...
Its the full kit for £18 i made sure. i will go the vauxhall dealer this week and see what they say.
does anyone have any idea how much it would be to get the head skimmed? i might be able to bring it to work to get it done but if not would need it done somewhere else. will get a quote off the...
I have recently removed the fan belt, cambelt, sprockets and pulleys so I could change the thermostat after the car overheated the other day. After putting it all back together I have realised there is a pretty major problem with my 1.4 SOHC! when the engine is revved water is forced out of the...
Just doing a bit of work on my old 1.4 SOHC. I changed the thermostat and waterpump, the fanbelt, sparkplugs and airfilter as they were looking a bit tired!!
looking at the distributor there is corrosion, wear and burning marks to the contacts. i was just wondering if is possible to just buy...
Cheers for the responces, i agree its a stupid design! Think i am going to have to re-use the old belt and pullys though as i am amazingly skint at the moment!!
I don't know a great deal about the history, but i know the belt was changed last year. might look at getting a new water pump...
