Great turn out for the first meet of the year and the mk3 got some attention even though it was parked near some rather exotic super cars but more so because it was close to the queue for the breakfast baps, lol.
I didn't take any pics myself but found these on FB click me.
First drive of the year tonight after sorting the tax, let the smiles per mile begin for 2018 :)
Popping to a meet this Saturday morning 08:30 to 10:30 arranged by Stratstone at their offices near M1 J27, further details and all 2018 meet dates here.
I've had my Eezibleed for 20 years, best tool you can ever buy. Used it loads and it's still going strong.. A highly recommend purchase for any budding DIYer.
Decided to get the new lower radiator hose installed this week. My old mishmash hose and the new funky OE look silicone.
Initial fitting, I forgot just how tight things are with a V6 in there, even with the intake removed for better access the block end of the hose was fiddly.
Everything...

The old girl had a few minor but very annoying dents for a while now so I thought it was high time we got these sorted out. The main really obvious one was a ripple on top of the offside front wing from a previous badly done smart repair prior to the wife owning the car. It’s really hard to...
Dug the mk3 out of its Winter slumber last weekend and fired it up for 30 mins before tucking it back into bed until the nicer weather arrives. I forgot how nice it sounds, it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling inside.
VBOA tickets now booked for Fri to Mon as the wife and I have done this for the past few years. But alas, the wife's mk3 won't be on this club stand I'm afraid as we display on Vauxhall Drivers Club as we always take two Vauxhall's of differing models and like displaying them together.
I'm new old skool to the wonderful delights of de-tangoing, it did feel somewhat satisfying ripping all the orange out. The car looks better in the flesh from the rear as the pictures don't do it justice. It's in hibernation for Winter now but will be out to play next year as it's a hoot to drive.
The wife and I noticed the fuel pump was getting loud and being a second hand scrappy item I decided to fit a brand new one. So in November the V-Power go go juice extracted so I could add fresh after the pump change.
I had visions of having to drop the tank but there was just enough room by...
Finally got my picture hosting sorted so here goes with a mini update and I’ll edit the rest of this diary soon.
Back in August the mk3 got a set of free GSi tail lights from a friend who was breaking a mk3 as I’ve never really liked the series 2 standard items.
Original stock series 2 tail...
The genuine plastic type boots last so much longer than the aftermarket rubber versions, I'd steer clear of the stretch boots as they are pants and don't last. If money is tight buy a fitted boot specifically for the Astra mk3 from any of the aftermarket suppliers. Brake cleaner will be fine for...
Yes, they are very good and the wife's mk3 feels nice and tight without being too firm with the Powerflex poly bushes. for a cost saving I'd recommend you check out the StrongFlex mentioned earlier F 91-98 - Astra - Vauxhall a friend has these on his Calibra which I fitted and for the price they...
Forgot these, inside of arch prior to underseal. You can see from the picture of the beam lower fixing I've added extra strength by boxing in the fixing.
Hopefully these pics of my rear turrets will help, mine are custom items utilising the original top fitting. You can buy Escort mk1/mk2 rear round turrets from Motorsport Tools here which my friend used in his Astra mk2 rally car. I also just found these on ebay click me which are cheaper, bit...
I'll dig some pics out later of the rear turrets that I've done. Been running mine since 2009 with no problems at all. The GAZ kit is awesome & even on the roads you can feel the smoothness as it glides over all the potholes & lumps 'n' bumps you would otherwise be dodging with cheaper kits. For...
