Front wish bones

They take some getting in, found that a vice alone wouldnt work so made a jig for it..... worked well but have to get the bush 100% level before trying to press in and can take a few line-ups before getting right even with the jig I made.

I'd recommend doing something like I did though, old ones pop right out easy!

I've got access to a press at work with a lot of pieces of metal that could be used to push the bushes in if not I'm able to fabricate something for the job. Got some experience with changing bushes on bikes so I'm hoping it doesn't cause me too much headache. Plan on ordering the bushes on payday all being well!

If I can manage it then most can lol

I had strongflex on my corsa and must say they were pretty damn good and a bit cheaper than the top named brands but not lacking in quality
F 91-98 - Astra - Vauxhall

They actually don't look half bad! Especially as they sell them in kit form! Hmm not I've got choices it's confused the matter even more haha. And do I just bit the bullet and poly bush the hole lot in one go?

Your on about the fronts poly bushing them? Its the back one that takes all the punishment, even crappy brand bushes hold up fine at the front. For me its just the back one that needed upratting so I've only changed that one. I seem to remember the mk2's having issues when poly bushing the fronts too but cant remember exactly, that stuck in my mind from years ago so held back from doing them- that and cost, not really changed them as a performance upgrade but more because I'm fed up of changing them every year.

Yeah I was thinking about poly bushing all the wishbone rubbers, even the anti roll bar link ones along with doing the anti roll bars as well. Would you advise against this then? Just thought if I was to be going through the work of poly bushing rear may as well do the front at the same time?

You could do the lot. They'll certainly last longer than (replacement) rubber items. The only problem child is the front wishbone's rear bush, as discussed. All the other bushes work in a way that won't cause any problems.
Nice pictures from Mr Neg, the design used there is definitely one of the better ones because the bush can't dislocate easily!

A full kit for the complete car is around 110 quid or so from the place inverted linked on, and they do two types, with the designs being the same as what Mr. Negative used. Got some thinking to do now. Shall keep this post updated!

Hi all.... Looking into fully poly-bushing my GSi, I'm looking at powerflex purple bushes. Anyone got any experience with these? Car will be used for weekend/occasional track day. Car will have GAZ gha coilovers on front with separate springs and shocks on rear "Also GAZ". Front and rear strut braces and ARB's. Wishbones are currently off the car, any advice will be appreciate before i start destroying the old bushes out.

Yes, they are very good and the wife's mk3 feels nice and tight without being too firm with the Powerflex poly bushes. for a cost saving I'd recommend you check out the StrongFlex mentioned earlier F 91-98 - Astra - Vauxhall a friend has these on his Calibra which I fitted and for the price they are really good quality bushes.

Best of luck with the fitting, here's my effort.

StrongFlex full kit comes in at £112 for red poly, Yellow kit for race use are £119. Which color kit did you fit to the Calibra? Purple Powerflex full kit cost £250, so the StrongFlex comes in at less than half the price. Thanks for pointing this out Harvey :thumb:.. Now... which one to go for!! :noidea: Decisions, Decisions!!
