s'ok...I got one eventually :)

Crappy design! The reverse light switch on my MK4 X20XEV was on the back of the box, and was a 2 min job to replace. Different gearboxes I guess.

Don't really wanna mess about with the clutch cable. How hard is it to disconnect and reconnect? I realise a 17mm spanner does the trick but there's no room to get it in. It's not the fuse. I have an iPhone FM transmitter in my fag lighter socker and that works fine. :)

X20XEV engine. How are you supposed to get to the reverse light switch to take it out and replace it with a new one? It seems to be on top of the gearbox under the clutch arm. My deep sockets aren't deep enough :doh:

What it is, is the flanges between the downpipe and the cat have corroded so much that only the rust is holding it all together now, and it's blowing. So I was looking to hacksaw the rusty flanges off and get a straight through connector to clamp them two bits together, as I cant afford a new...

So can someone actually confirm if it's 45mm (1.75") or 51mm!!

I'd start at the cheaper end and clean the aircon, then if the smell is still there take a trip down the scrappys for a replacement CAT.
