Bittersweet after 26 years, 5 months, 24 days of my wife owning her Astra mk3 it has now been sold. We both hope the new owner thoroughly enjoys it as much as I have building/maintaining it and the wife has driving it. This concludes the build diary, missed already but never forgotten.
If anyone is interested in making 2026 a show season to remember I've adjusted the price and I'm open to reasonable discussions but strongly advise a viewing is arranged.
It’s that fun time of year that for some reason I always dread as it’s your work being examined. I need not fret as the MOTer said all was good and it flew through the MOT with an all clear and no advisory this year for loud exhaust so I’m assuming the tester is losing his hearing or becoming...
Finally managed to get the noisy pair together last month with both the wife’s Astra V6 and my VXR8 attending the Dukeries Motor Club show at Mansfield.
More from the show.
This beauty (in my eyes) had a 7.2L Jenson engine plonked in.
The Astra V6 had more cuddles this past week with new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 fitted in 205/40R17.
I’ve been using the same independent tyre shop for years and this happened. I’m not going to name and shame as the shop owner was happy to get it sorted but I said I’ll take it to my...
Popped down to VBOA show so thanks to all on Astra MK3 Owners Club stand for having us, the wife’s car felt very at home among other amazing mk3s. I hope we weren't too LOUD when we left hahaha.
The day after we got home from the show while I was washing the car my keen eye noted a rather...
Hi peeps, I thought it was about time I displayed the wife's Astra mk3 V6 on your club stand as this might be our last year with it now it's for sale click me so I've paid my dues and we'll see you on Saturday around 9am :thumb:
I wanted the car right before I put it up for sale and the wife just spring it on me a couple of months ago as she feels it's time to move it on as you can't keep them forever, we're hopeful it'll go to a good home. It obviously doesn't want to leave us with the PAS pipe popping, it was crying...
After 26 years of ownership my wife has decided to sell her much beloved 1997 Astra mk3 Arctic. She is the second lady owner and was purchased by her in November 1999 from Smiths of Ilkeston Vauxhall and registered new May 1997 at Hartwell (now Pentagon) Vauxhall Mansfield. It ran an...
Scooted down to the VauxALL show at the British Motor Museum last Sunday. Fab day, decent weather and good mooch around the show and museum.
However, on arrival at VauxALL I noted some damp patches on the ground and then looked under the car. Sure enough something was dripped so popped the...
A rather annoying thing with the Astra V6 was the OE drivers door central locking motor as I’ve replaced it a few times with what I thought were known good used items. However, it started doing its remote lock with instant unlock again sigh. You then must unlock and relock. Anyway I’d had enough...
While fiddling with the timing belt I noticed the intake hose had split again and with no spares left in stock I opted for the Roose kit in OE matt black.
All fixed and looking decent so should have done this in the first place when I found the initial split a few years back, now fixed for...
The Astra V6 had an epic service after I realised my normal standards had slipped, I’d not changed the timing belt in 12 years/4.5K as it should be 4 years/40K. I got cracking and stripped it all down which is a mission, found TDC and popped the locking kit on. I needn’t worry as the old belt...
Price dropped to £35 £25 including delivery and I’ve found the correct plastic wiper blade adaptor plus a 20” wiper blade. These will all be included in the sale with the items pictured below.
Regarding your leak, is it coolant? could be heater matrix hoses snagging on the gear linkage or the oil cooler plate that sits in the middle of the heads. Either way shouldn't too difficult to find. If it's a home juts cut through and use a plastic or brass hose joiner to sort.
It was action stations last month with the Astra as I decided to take the roof lining out due to the fabric sagging after finding a local vehicle upholstery company to fix it properly as the car deserves it. It’s booked in next month to get sorted so I’ll update when completed, in the meantime I...
