Thanks man! Isn't too bad, needs a bit for welding but what car doesn't after 20 years lol, in no rush to do it either, pretty much a full rebuild now lol

Good man for heading for a full resto. Check out my build. Saloon number 2 for ideas and inspiration

Not point ignoring rough stuff, already had a look at that! Loved the first saloon, it gave me the bright idea to try to make a gsi bumper fit a saloon haha

Thought I’d update this, not done much really, got the engine out, bay stripped ready for welding, no major holes found thankfully apart from the one I knew about, did manage to get another two gsi bumpers so now I have enough bits to make a complete non fog light one, got a better gsi grill too, gsi rear bumper is about half way to being finished (big pain in the backside but too late to give up now) made a start on stripping the underside of the car aswell, lots of surface rust hopefully once I’ve cleaned it back it’ll stay away, last pic is the astra with a previous owner, looks quite nice with the black bumpers and inovits53C68280-EAB9-4EC6-AA7C-9903AF0293AF.jpeg3E690BD1-B9A8-4187-ABEE-20255DB6CFD7.jpeg518C65D7-4025-4D8E-AFBF-CB7978C2B34B.jpegAC6D4AA6-F9A4-4AA0-B042-0E841DA5491D.jpeg

Had some time off work, decided to do something with the astra besides look at it lol, stripped front end down, started to clean off all the surface rust and remove all the underseal and seam sealer (check there’s no rust behind which there was in most cases ) a lot more rust that i initially thought, spent too much to turn back now haha, cleaned the a sill up, needs a bit of welding but not bad!71E1A0E2-D702-460B-ACBB-A62B155FA358.jpeg774CF830-6F98-4B66-858D-74625ED8E237.jpeg022824F5-4449-4416-BFF5-483AD7884599.jpeg

I feel your pain with rust as I've just been through mine completely, I would be tempted to have the sills off if I was you as they rust from the inside out, mine looked cleaner than yours on the outside but inside were really horrid!

Was thinking of doing that as I’ve noticed they love having hidden rot, would have to buy a sill anyway for the other side so two won’t hurt too much (i hope) main problem I’ve found is finding a way of repairing the bulkhead and keeping it looking original, was just gonna do away with the lip as it just seems the trap water but the bulkhead already seems like quite a weak point...

Been awhile since I updated this, still have the car, not done much other than collect parts and panels until today, started to properly strip it down, so far no major rust found, going to strip back the drivers rear quarter bare to make sure there is no rot at all, worst parts on the shell are the bulkhead and jacking points ( if anyone’s cutting a shell up or have a stripped shell going for scrap let me know!)5AEE5281-7DC3-4984-A6BC-FE12C7897469.jpegC66288C6-C8AA-4B1B-A072-E961CC7BDB55.jpeg00C67087-E2EF-40A4-AA02-4DA6DACFEBFF.jpeg

Would anyone be interested in this saloon shell before it gets weighed in? Needs a good bit of work! Lower bulkhead, rear panel, front panel, sills, and repairs to most of the floors

My bulkhead has needed welding on all of my Astras, think the water sits on that seam and just kills them.

Aye the whole lip between the bulkhead and jacking point/floor is rotten, started off with a 4 in long hole above lip, ended up having to cut the whole lip out and most of what’s below the lip too, floors and rear is pretty rotten too, so I’ve decided to just strip the car
