i have just got a 3rd brake light, im planning to fit it under my GSi spoiler PH1

to do this would i just run a feed from one of the brake light? also waterproofing thw wires how would i do this?

yeh run it from the rear brake light, just go down the pillar into the boot etc.

duno how you would go about waterproofing it though. are you sure you bought an exterior one? as some are for interior use only. mine was!

I was going to put mine inside on the tailgate, but I didn't want to mess around with getting it through rubber grommets to make it water proof, so just put mine inside, at the top of the rear screen, but not on the tailgate, just inside the car. Not sure if that makes sense or not haha.

yup, same place as where i put mine!!

the glue didn' take though, so atm electrical tape holds it up (y) lol. i will of course be changing this at some point!

nope you wouldnt. you need to run a ground too, this can either be to a bolt through the body or down to another ground in the wiring loom. and with regard to waterproofing wires, heat shrink the bits that your soldering/ crimping terminals and then thats bout it.

the live and the earth wire for the light are joined together though, so just run both of them to the rear light cluster and then wire the earth of the 3rd light to the brown earth wire on the rear light cluster, if you get what i mean.

how can an earth and positive be together?

well they aren't right next to each other obviously, but they are in the same area.

i just mean there is an earth in the rear light cluster, right in the same area as where you put the live to, so you might as well route them in the same direction.

oh yeah. would be the easy way.
