just a quick question, does the 6 speed box fit onto a c20xe??

i no the redtop n turbo are nearly the same, i would love 6 speed on my redtop thou

cheers

sweeeet, so what exactyl is invovled in changing it from 4wd to 2wd? i no u have to take the tranfer box off but is it literally as simple as that? i would love an in depth explaination.

is it short ratio or just the same and another gear.?

Dunno why u would wanna do it to a c20xe tho as 6th gear isnt gonna pull much. Its pointless.

The hole where the transfer box is attached will need blanked off, easy done with an old f20 box,or u cud buy the kit from Regal etc.

Ratios are exactly the same as an f20 but with an extra gear.

You will need to drill and tap the holes on the box so you can use the F20 mount, you'll need to use a late xe or let pot type flywheel and clutch and get a 2wd kit from regal or chris astley motorsport

how difficult is all of this?? what is the pot style flywheel about and what comes in the kit?

the reason i am inquire is because my 5 speed box isn't feeling to good these days and i know i am 110% percent going to let my car in the future so to save myself money i was goin buy a 6 speed for my xe which i can in the end put on my let when i buy it.

however i'm not sure if i wana be drilling holes in it depends on how hard it is...

cheers for the replys guys, more please!

It's easy enough to drill and tap, Paul's just done it to mine, the kit just bolts onto the box. I will see if i can find a pic of the 2 different xe flywheels

sweet cheers mate, ill be back on 2mo lunch time to ask more q's

The F20 doesn't fit on properly, you can use one off an F25 though, but for the sake of £56 (from Chris Astley) it's just easier

so how many holes do you have to change to get the f28 to fit on an xe? how do you get the holes in the right place? what the difference between the flywheels on early n late xe's, mines 92 so would be early i assume

The holes for the mount are already there, they just need making bigger. It's 3 holes for the bolts to bolt the mount to the gearbox. The pot (later) flywheel is slightly heavier than the flat (early) type. Haven't had any luck finding pics yet, but will keep looking

ahhhhh thats really easy, i didn't realise you ment the mount holes i thought you ment the bell housing to engine holes. in that case that should be no problem...

as for flywheels no matter what type i have in my car what type do i need for the six speed box??

Alex you can use the flat type flywheel from the early XE on a LET.....

You need to use an early XE clutch cover on a late style plate and release bearing.

Advantage is that the flat one is lighter for free'er revving, definatly a benefit on an XE.

well this is exactly what im thinking, if its the same ratio im not losing out by having an extra gear. to be honest i think its a good idea and as said, 6th on a motorway will be brilliant for fuel.

so i use the same clutch i already have then? i assume mine would have a flat clutch as it is a very early xe..

pic reuqest... does anyone have a picture of the two clutches in question???
