right got my gearbox in  (what a job) now when i went to fit the rear engine mount there is no where 2 bolt it to anyone had this before thanks antony

Yeah you need to use the original f20 mount and drill and tap the holes in the box for it to mount to

can i do it in the car or have i got to take it out:o
and as for the linkage do i need all of the f28 one and fit it to the f20 mount

bugger so its not a straight swap then

is yours an electric speedo F28 'astra_turbo' ? if so how you getting the speedo to work regarding the loom behind the clocks?

anyone?

as said youve gotta use the f20/f18 mount on the side of the f28 drilling out and tapping 3 exisiting holes. its such a bad solution tho change gear, pull off hard and it will snap clean in half, slam everything down and destroy your inner cv joint at the same time. Theres a guy on mig doing custom rear mounts which use the orginal f28 rear mount position @ £85 quid. i just put an order in for one should be alot better.

as for the linage you cant use either f20 or f28 linkages, youve gotta make a hybrid of the two, linkages are in three parts, gearbox end, middle and bulkhead end all held together with circlips. IIRC (maybe wrong as i havent done it for 2 years or so) i used f20 gearbox end and middle and used the bulkhead end from the f28

you have broken one before on your mk3 reece?

3 times, friend of mine broke his 4 or so times

loads of people have snapped them on mig too

sorry to crash in on the thread but do u know if the gearbox from a mk5 cdti astra will fit to my LET block its the 6 speed box ?

i'm after one of these for my coversion, need one a.s.a.p but for some reason mig wont let me post on there site, does anyone have the guy e mail address who is selling them so i can order one please? p.m. if anyone has it.

Last one sold, will have a couple more done in about a weeks time. using this mount you do not have to touch the gearbox at all, no holes will need drilling or tapping.. if your gearbox is not allready drilled and tapped to accept the std rear mount (astra) then all you will need is 3 sleeves (tubes think it was 10.5mm OD - 8.5mm ID and an inch long) this will then mount the astra rear mount onto the gearbox using m8 bolts rather then the normal m12's. the m8's will be fine as the rear mount is only being used to support the linkage and not takign the load of the engine.

another good thing is the fact that an f28 does not to be modified at all when done this way, it can all be removed and a transfer box bolted straight back on and go into a 4x4 car and not even tell it was used in a fwd situation

heres the last batch thats just gone..

And here you can see the new mount bolted to the back of the f28 along with the rubber. you can see the standard astra mount which has had a big piece of it chopped off so that it is only a mount for the linkage. on this perticular picture the astra moutn has been mounted with 2 m8 bolts (3 woill be used) just to give you an idea..

a picture speaks a thousand words!!
