Upgrade from the A3 is here. It was somewhat of an impulse buy to be honest. I wasn't really looking for a new car just yet, but I was looking to see what the cost of something a little bigger than the A3, looking at A4's to start with, but they are just so crap  Spec on them is mostly rubbish, they look pretty boring and most are high miles with a crap autobox and a boring engine. So started looking at A6's, seeing what sort of spec was available compared to the A4 is amazing. Anyway, found one I liked and thought I would go have a look at it. Ended up driving it home

So here it is, the new family car:

Audi A6, 3.0 V6 diesel, 245bhp (500NM of torque  ), 7-speed DSG gearbox, 45k miles plus a huge list of optional extras, which would have cost around £14k then it was new

Some of the options on it:
  • Active cruise control
  • Audi side assist (blind spot assistance, an amber light inside the wing mirror lights up when a car is in your blind spot or is approaching you at speed)
  • Audi pre-sense plus (automatic braking for collision avoidance, also does stuff like tighten the seat belts in preparation of a collision)
  • Front and rear cameras, 360 parking sensors
  • Automatic parking
  • Lane assist
  • High level MMI and satnav with google earth integration
  • Colour DIS (Screen in clocks)
  • Power operated tailgate
  • Advanced key (fully keyless entry, touch sensitive door handles)
  • Door mirrors - electrically folding, heated, adjustable, memory and auto-dimming
  • Xenon plus lights
  • Auto high-beam assist (amazing!)
  • LED tail lights
  • Black headlining
  • Light package (Outside door handles LED lit, all LED interior lights, footwell lighting, internal door lighting etc)
  • Heads up display
  • Privacy glass
  • 75L fuel tank (65L standard)
  • Adaptive air suspension
  • Heated front seats
  • Both front seats fully electrically adjustable, drivers seat memory
  • Electric adjustable steering column
  • 19" Twin-spoke wheels

Quite a spec list :D It's so nice to drive. I loved my A3, but this is just on another level with all the toys plus the comfort of air suspension. Also having 4 doors and a big boot has proven to be a great advantage over the A3 with having a 6 year old. I think the active cruise control is a game changer too, you can have it set to 70mph on a dual carriageway, a lorry pulls out to overtake and it just slows down to follow it until it moves out the way. Or even better, in stop-start traffic, it will just stop and start without needing to do anything but steer. I love it. This weekend I've driven it down to Cornwall and it returned 47mpg which is mega respectable for a 3.0 engine and a big heavy car.

Very little in the way of mods planned for it, so probably not going to be a very active thread  It's got 4 almost new Goodyear Eagle F1's on it, just had a service and gearbox service, so it needs almost nothing in terms of servicing and repairs.

What a beast, sounds like the perfect motor, doesn't look bad either. Although going from an 07 Mondeo to a 94 Astra feels like I've gone back a century, this must be mad  (still use the Astra every chance I get though)

41k not 14k you mean. Lovely car that

Cheers. I've always loved estates, and the Audi Avants have always really done it for me. I've not driven the mk3 for a few weeks so I think I will be in for a surprise lol.

14k of options, on a 41k car lol, so was £55k new. I am loving it though.

Done 1,200 miles in the first week of ownership. Can't get enough of the noise of a V6 :)
