Upgrade from the A3 is here. It was somewhat of an impulse buy to be honest. I wasn't really looking for a new car just yet, but I was looking to see what the cost of something a little bigger than the A3, looking at A4's to start with, but they are just so crap
Spec on them is mostly rubbish, they look pretty boring and most are high miles with a crap autobox and a boring engine. So started looking at A6's, seeing what sort of spec was available compared to the A4 is amazing. Anyway, found one I liked and thought I would go have a look at it. Ended up driving it home
So here it is, the new family car:
Audi A6, 3.0 V6 diesel, 245bhp (500NM of torque
), 7-speed DSG gearbox, 45k miles plus a huge list of optional extras, which would have cost around £14k then it was new
Some of the options on it:
Quite a spec list
It's so nice to drive. I loved my A3, but this is just on another level with all the toys plus the comfort of air suspension. Also having 4 doors and a big boot has proven to be a great advantage over the A3 with having a 6 year old. I think the active cruise control is a game changer too, you can have it set to 70mph on a dual carriageway, a lorry pulls out to overtake and it just slows down to follow it until it moves out the way. Or even better, in stop-start traffic, it will just stop and start without needing to do anything but steer. I love it. This weekend I've driven it down to Cornwall and it returned 47mpg which is mega respectable for a 3.0 engine and a big heavy car.
Very little in the way of mods planned for it, so probably not going to be a very active thread
It's got 4 almost new Goodyear Eagle F1's on it, just had a service and gearbox service, so it needs almost nothing in terms of servicing and repairs.
