Posted on MIG, didn't know if anyone here might be interested?

Ok after a hard decision, I have decided to sell my GSI after completely rebuilding it, mainly becuase If I use it for my job I will ruin it (all I wear is overalls, covered in crap!)

I Bought it from ebay in august, it was an extremely rare 8v model with manual windows/mirrors and an NE. EVERYTHING else is identical to a normal 16v gsi, ie ABS, trip computer, discs all round etc.

However, before christmas I stripped it and fitted a low mileage XE from a calibra. I fitted it with new headgasket, reground the valves, new cambelt kit, waterpump, headstuds. I then fitted it with the DIS loom and ECU, so its distributorless ign, but with the earlier more reliable cambelt setup (metal roller). Fitted it with FULL silicone hose kit, new plugs and rotor arm. New GM anti freeze 10w 40 oil and filter and new genuine GM air filter.
The ONLY fault I can think of is the fact the sumpgasket leaks a little (dont all XE's)

Whilst there, I pressure washed the engine bay, fitted brand new gm lower arms and track rod ends, spax suspesnion setup with 40mm drop and brand new GM top mounts (90 quid pair!). The last job was to fit a set of new 288 gm discs and vauxhall pads to uprate the brakes.

After driving round for a few weeks I decided the bodywork needed some attention. So I took the car off the road, completely stripped it to nothing, removed the rear arches, replaced the inner and outer arches complete and have had the car completely resprayed. at the same time I had a new bumper skin for the front and replaced both fog lights which were cracked.

I have fully waxoiled the entire car all box sections, chassis legs inner arches and door bottoms. the entire kit was removed to repaint the car and refitted with new clips, the kit was painted seperately, so no mask lines anywhere! The car is waxed under the kit so water is no londer a problem it will never ever rust again! Underneath I have treated it with black wax, which never sets so can't crack and let rust in!

The car is GENUINELY immaculate, all one colour. Inside there is NO wear on the seats, I have replaced the drivers seat with a mint one (was virtually impossible to find!) Its got omega one touch electric roof, one touch late GM electric windows (early GSI's only had one touch drivers side) I have also fitted a clifford G4 concept 300 with total closure (all windows and sunroof close when armed!) it has anti hi jack etc.

Mileage is showing at 114k which is what the car has done, the engine had done 88k when I removed it, no taps or rattles in the morning and pulls very well. I have fitted full stainless steel scorpion exhaust as well.

Basically, I built the car for me, but I will not use it as it should, I will keep getting it filthy etc and will have to spend hours cleaning it and making it decent again! Its also fitted with rare as hell 17" speedlines with 215/45/17's all which are same make and LOADS of thread left. Its taxed to end of February, but I will sell it with full 12 months MOT, (runs out in may, but will pass absolutely no problems!)

I want £2200ono for it, it sounds alot, but it is perfect, could nearly be used as a show car its that good! ALot of GSI's sell on ebay for £1500 but they are fillered up to the hilt and no where near as nice as mine, plus the wheels alone on mine are worth 500+

I have some of it as a rolling bodyshell, before I built it all back up and as I built it back up, but thats it I'm afraid, my camera died before christmas, and I only had a replacement after i had fitted the engine and done the welding etc.

come and have a look, you will see its all been done properly! and you can see all the new wheel arches if you removed the rear 1/4 trims in the car.
