Brake/Tail/Reverse Bulbs

Quick question, do all 3 of the above use the same white 382 bulbs?

Am looking at some SMD upgrades due to having tinted rear lights....

Most LED bulbs will NOT work in the rear light clusters. Vauxhall in their wiseness did the wiring back-to-front. Filament bulbs can run both ways, diodes cannot.

I know the mk4 is wired differently, didn't think the mk3 was? Even on the mk4 I just redid the wiring

There's a few on here using LED's I believe. I'm sure Ash does

Just need to know the bulb types...

If you google Astra Mk3 LED rear bulbs, or something along those lines, there is a couple of companies that wire the bulbs backwards, so they work in the Astras.

From memory some aftermarket lamp units accept standard LED bulbs, or can be edited easier than the standard one anyway.

I've got mostly leds in my car. I think there's 6 halogen bulbs left. They are just your normal led bulbs mainly bought of brite light leds

You've got aftermarket rear lamps though haven't you Ash?

The after market lights still use the same plugs etc though,

I'm just gonna order some anyway. It's mostly reverse/stop/tail that I want to replace

Aftermarket lights with original bulb holders.

Ben, just order your everyday normal bulbs. They will work

I have a feeling it's down to the fact that the mk3 is reversed polarity on the rear lights than most other cars, I think you need Leds that are designed to work either way round

I also noticed on that thread that someone called Ben pretty much said upgrading the light bulbs in the rear lamps is pointless.



Jus sayin, is all.

My lights weren't as dark then so didnt see the point.

It's leds or no one sees my lights lol!
