car running like crap any ideas

i have a gsi with c20let engine fitted the car runs fine wen warm its the cold part thats **** it just wont rev its like a missfire i have adjusted gaps on plugs checked ht leads replaced dizzy cap and still no good i have read ecu and there are no faults wen running wen the engine is turned off it brings up crankshaft sensor which i replaced about 3 weeeks ago and done only 10miles with any suggestions would be helpfull thanx steve

Have you tried cleaning out the induction system and maing sure the throttle body is clean normally get a build up of black crap in there also get some carb cleaner and spray in to the idle control valve pipe. the car runs badly for about 5 mins then should pick up again and be fine just done it on the redtop this week end and all is well.......

coolant temperature switch? blue sensor on the thermostat housing, about £7 from your local motor factors (that's your local car shop, not some fancy chain of stores like some idiots on here think...... )

just had the same sort of problem with mine not running properly and a wire had come off the amal valve, connected it back up and it seems fine now.
