I have only ever took one dash out of a mk3 astra, and was a long time ago, but I am doing a complete interior change on me g/f's astra, what are they like to get out, anything to watch out for.
It is only a std MERIT so needs a bit of jazzing up.

i did mine in 3 hours including cleaning and dinner lol

Thanks for that, nice to know, trouble is I will get nagged now until I get it done!!
Oh well will be much better for it, the merit interiors a bit ghastly, colour wise.

right i tried to do mine last night and failed miserbly,

firstly one of the bolt in the back of the steering wheel was rounded off so took me forever to get the steering wheel off, then i took out the wiper asembly and un did all the bolts along the bluk head. i then took the pastic it off the dials but couldnt get the dials out..

now i remember someone saying that you had to undo it from the gearbox, i dont like the sound of that really and am sure there must be another way. so how do the clock come out? HELP! i had to drive to work this morning with a wonky steering wheel and half a dash!

come one people! i have half a dash and need to get this done tongiht before i have to drive to norfolk tomorrow!

You will need to undo the speedo cable from the gearbox end as there is only a small amount of slack in the cable. Best way to do this is to undo the 10mm bolt just behind where the cable goes in and extract the whole lot, then pull the clocks out, unclip the cable from the back of the clocks, then finally put the cable back into the gearbox to stop any dirt getting in there

thanks very much, is the cable clearly visable when you look at the gearbox?

and just to make sure as i dont have a haynes. the bolts i need to take out to get the dash out are.

the ones under the scuttle pannel 5 i think
two in each side of the dash where the door covers.
three little screws underneath the dash
the center console screws

any others that i have missed? are there any bolts behind the clocks?

thanks
