electrical problem dash lights ect

When i switch my lights on my rev counter drops to zero but switch them off and the rev counter works as it should, also the dial lights dont come on when lights are switched on

could be a couple of things there.the earth and ignition main feed switch(ignition barrel)
is bad for feckking up,easy way to check is with engine running,remove steering surround and feel back of plug,(on back of barrel)if its warm there is a bad connection there,can cause lots of funny dash problems like heaters not working,dash lights ect.think they are about 20 quid .oh ye,mine nearly went on fire from this fault!!!

so run a better earth or replace black box on back of barrel

original clocks? ... done any work to the wiring behind the clocks ? Had the clocks off for anything (speedo cable or anything ?)

to fit white dials no work to the wireing

just noticed that the dash lights work with the keys out but the battery and oil light come on with them

Did you fix this ,, sounds like the dimmer controll is playing up ?
