anyone fitted gauges in the place where the mfd is mounted? i've got about five gauges i need to find a place for, dont want to put them in the air vents or in a pillar pod so does anyone has any ideas or pics please?

what are you like with fibreglass?

I always liked the idea of smoothing off the dash shelf and fitting gauges in there - pointed at the driver.

You'd need to get the whole dash retrimed though - which could be expensive!

you mean the shelf on the top of the dash kev? i've seen that on a burgundy mk 3 on here, it looked amazing! dont really want to have the dash retrimmed though, will be expensive to get done properly, i'm quite handy with fiberglass though.

yeah, that's the place.

AndyMk3Astra did something similar - but his was a removable 'insert' and IMO didn't fit very well - could be good if you got the fitment spot on.

You could always get a spare dash (a grey 1 would be ideal - cheap as chips) try smoothing it over and retrimming in vynle yourself - shouldn't cost anymore that £35 in materials. (including the dash!)

an option i was thinking of was mounting it in the dash above the glovebox the only problem would be is only the passenger would be able to see them i dont mean on the top i mean cut wholes in the rubbery dash

If the guages are the right size you could do that and angle them towards the driver - use some wedge shaped rings.

Or in the glove box door.

Or 2 where the MFD would be, then 3 where the interior light is (both requiring some fibreglass skill).

Loads of places to put gauges if you can use fibreglass.

I mounted 2 gauges in where the mfd was but just moding a calibra turbo vdo gauges holder.

mine went in the ashtray, I modded it so you could open the astray in the normal way and reveal 2 gauges:

like the idea of the interior light location kev!

dont really want to cut the main part of the dash, gwillzy any chance you can mail me a pic of your modded mfd gauges? was hoping to fit 3 of them in there as ive already lost the funtions of the mfd when i swapped my ecotec for the xe engine
