hi guys im new to the site and think its great just wondering if theres any 1 out there that could give me a few tips on how i could modifiy and tune my 2.0l 8v engine

first of all :welcome:  :yo:

is it totally standard???

how much more power you after cause the more you want, thats when the big bucks needs to come out....

for starters a full S/S exhaust system will help, panel air filter.. then you can go to stuff like....

chipping ecu, better cams and pullys...

then stupid money on turbo conversion, throttle bodies.......

or just get NOS :heh:

thats just a little list but im sure someone will give you a better detailed plan later..

well i am considring a v6 conversion but i aint to sure on how much work it would take or what i'd need to get apart from the engine i dont wana go into changing it from 4 stud to 5 stud coz i dont really wana loose me 17 wolfrace wheels so at the mo i just want to give it a little more power at low cost as possible at the moment my 8v is standard i av de catted it and running it with no air filter ive got a 4 branch manifold of a red top but havent fitted it yet will it fit ? ive also been told i can fit renult 19 16v injectors to it as any1 done this ?

if you did v6 it you could keep your alloys and would be able to use v6 brakes aswell. the v6 driveshafts would fit into your 2.0 hubs meaning you keep 4 studs.

i wouldnt recomend running with out an air filter, if you suck up to much crap you will damage your engine. use the standard air box, pull the plastic pipes out and put a decent panel filter in there, with a big cold air feed to it.

the manifold might fit to the head but proberly would want cutting and welding to join up wiht the rest of the exhaust system.

never herd of renault 19 16v fitting, if they did the fueling would proberly be off and you'd need a remap or something. not worth it really. get everthing else sorted 1st.

head work would be good move too.

V6 is the way to go. ;)

They are the facelift lights with the tinted band on them. The best you can get IMHO. There's nothing else available anyway other than putrid lexus lights.

I built the thing myself (with help from friends) from a 2.0 8v. Did the conversions some 5 years ago now and was one of the first home made V6 conversions into a MK3 in the country. Fitted all the kit, new mohir hood, suspension/brake upgrades, the lot. Was totally bog standard when I bought it.

Best choice is the early Cavalier/Calibra C25XEs. Later ones were badged as Ecotecs, but were the same engines, with the addition of a 3rd mount (strut) and a transponder imobiliser in the ECU.

Engine is a straight swap. You use the V6 loom, but need to modify the starting/charging loom and also the secondary cooling loom that the V6 has.

Other than that, that's about it. Use your struts, subframe, just the C25XE, F25 + shafts and you're done. You need to mount the rad under the slam panel as you have space restrictions due to the front manifold. Best rad to use is a Corsa TD rad, make up some rad brackets and you just need to play around with the pipework.

...remember to upgrade the brakes and fit higher poundage front springs as the V6 is a heavy mother of an engine.

sounds pritty straight forward really will the ecu for the v6 fit the plug for the 2.0 8v or do i change the full loom

No, that's why I said use the V6 loom. This is ment to sound anal, but if you thought that, then I'd get some help with the wiring. :)
