Immobiliser issue...

Sat in my car waiting for my missus earlier, looked at my dash and noticed my EML flashing its ass off.
Turned ignition off, back on again, and it was flashing again.
Tried turning the engine over, and it was turning over, but not firing up.
Started to worry, and was rather confused as the car had worked up til then today.

So I turned off the ignition for a bit longer, and then back on, and it fired up no problem.

Out of curiosity I paperclipped the ECU, and it flashed code 85 - immobiliser wrong signal.

Anyone any ideas?
Its been working absolutely fine since.

is the immobiliser in the key in properly?

take the key apart and check that mate?

Well I checked the key earlier and the chip is in there solidly, not rattling around or anything.
Could this have just been a minor hiccup, or could it be a symptom of a potential problem?

minor hiccup i suspect. As it hasnt done it since, the ECu might of just has a temper tantrum. Not to worry about. If it does it again do the paperclip test again
