Has anyone tried the set on ebay from car-mod-shop ltd ? ebay.co.uk/itm/Green-LED-Dash-Speedo-Kit-Lighting-Set-For-Vauxhall-Astra-Mk3-Sri-Calibra/352290174746?fits=Model%3AAstra&hash=item520621771a:g:7GUAAOSwFZtbMeQW
Just wondering if a) they all fit b) they keep working.
Or any alternatives ?

Thanks - took the plunge and got the green ones, not too bad on the dash except the red zones (fuel reserve etc) don't show up very well, probably my fault for not getting the white ones.

All green leds but when I saw the result I switched the one behind the fuel gauge back to the original bulb. A bit mad but I can probably live with that. No car-time today so no pics.

So pic above is with one oem bulb behind fuel and temp gauges. As you can see on the revs the red zone with the green leds doesn't stand out very well (actually stands out more in the pic than in the flesh). Sorry pics a bit blurred !

having one bulb a different colour would do me in haha but I am a tad OCD. Maybe buy the white leds instead? do u really need to be able to see the red? as long as you can see the needle, does it matter lol

I don't like white. I like green.

I have a bad habit of running on fumes - I need to see exactly where that needle is in the red !! I might learn one day......

Any advice on led headlamps ? I've got the bog standard units

Aren't LED conversions illegal now? Since jan this year the MOT manual apparently says in regard to LED lamps:

“Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with high-intensity discharge (HID) or light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs.
If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp.”

It previously only mentioned HID. I'm not sure what this means in the real world i.e. enforcement etc , but technically you could get pulled for LED lamps and have your car deemed un-roadworthy, I'm sure your local force have far more to do than target mk3 owners, but I wouldn't want to run the risk of being stopped, which is a shame because I was toying with the idea of those great looking twin headlamp units that are available for the mk3...ho hum.... :(

Ah - that's interesting - didn't know that ! I suppose you could swap them back at every MOT..... As for the coppers, well, by the time they'd got their eyesight back you'd be gone wouldn't you ?
On a more serious note I should thank you - probably saved me a bit of money there, bit annoying though.
Presumably there is a recognised problem with beam patterns with all/some LEDs

I actually think it's a bit more 'bloody minded' than an actual problem with the LEDs themselves. From what I read, we simply don't have any legislation regarding LEDs so they don't have a conformity rating, which means they can't be allowed to be used. Hopefully in the future they will get a rating and be allowed to be fitted. It's all red tape basically .

You’ve never met the lovely Essex traffic cops. Stopped me one time on my way up to Trax for a club event, literally just as I joined the M25.

The reason...

Apparently the fact that I had my sidelights on, it was 9 in the morning and that my rear numberplate was reflective clearly wasn’t good enough for them, so they gave me a £30 penalty notice because my smoked rear lights didn’t have reflectors.

Moral of the story: Never underestimate the vindictive potential of a bored copper.

Silly me - yes that does make sense.
