Car's don't last 5 minutes up here anyway so it needs to be well built and solid!

I used to run a volvo 480 es and I treated it like crap drove it for miles with no water in it with no probs change gear with out using the clutch even boiled the brake fluid racing escort tubbys yet it would still start on a cold morn

Yea I'd say VAG all day long, but then I'm biased.

any vag 1.8t engine is easily tunable to 200bhp, and remember they did a 150bhp and 180bhp version so keep an eye out for that.

Got to agree with most that VAG is probably the best option but depends on how much you want to spend... Tuning newer VAGs isn't that cheap! If you want a Ford, buy my ST24!

Very nice recent irmscher kitted one on Mig at present (seller: Dave Marshall) - ****ing lot of car for the money! Extremely comfortable and will chew up the miles.
