You've got a few options on what subs to buy - but first on your list should be 1 or 2 of these

http://www.edaudio.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_27&products_id=28

Where you mount them is down to your imagenation, and either budget - or fiberglassing skills.

You could mount them to a solid MDF parcel shelf (counter sunk with accoustic carpet covering everything - very stealth)

You could FG them into the sides of the boot

You could try and get them under the front seats (i decided against this in the end, as now i have a saloon i don't need to move my shelf around)

try something like this:

only downside's the price, 350 smackers :tape:

That's not what he means - if he were to buy that he may aswell just have gotten a decent 12" sub in the first place.

This is exactly what i want to do......maybe with bigger subs though (10").

The thing is, i use my boot lots for climbing gear etc.... so i wanna keep the install out of the way, i cant fibreglass but can do wood!! The plan was to do something around the wheelarch recess, has anyone done anythng like this before? any pics?

cheers

There was a boot builds thread some time ago - search for it.

Loads of people have done what your thinking about - but with the use of FG. Would be very hard to do only in wood.

just realised there dual voice coils!

so it would be ok like this bridged on a 2 channel amp?

http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-RSHORYIK6eK/reviews/20040427/subs_amps_guide.html?page=5

Yeah - so long as your amp is suitably powerfull @ 4 ohm.

You might be better off getting the 2ohm versions - it's easier to get an amp that'll power them like that as generally speaking the lower the ohms = more RMS power.

Get yourself over to talkaudio if you haven't already - there was chat about a group buy on these - i would have a couple if i could a) afford them, and b) afford a decent amp.

As it is my 2 Focals will have to do for now.

Na dont bother with none of the you want to get your self some kicker solo baric, they do an 8inch that is also dual voice coil and will run at 1 omh stalbe. If you get an high power D class amp it will run a dual voice coil no probs cuz there made to,i,e the kicker sx400.1,it says its a 1 channel but it is atcually a 2 channel that would run that little 8inch square at a whole some 400watts RMS!!!!!!
+ with the solo baric's if you got an 8inch its equivelent to a 10, 10 to a 12 etc so packs a lot off power into a smaller space!
ill get my house mate to put sumit up here when he gets home from work trust when it comes to stero he knows what hes talking about! this mad bloke has got one of these in his golf oh ye and 2 12 solo baric's running at 2500 watts rms with a sencond battery and alternater stupid loud!!!!

what you mean matt mph,the solo baric 8 wouldnt fit under the seat the magnet is massive for a 8inch sub man!

Your completely missing the point mate.

He want's something that doesn't require a huge enclosure thats going to take up his boot - and running one of them IB would sound sh!t.

Good try though, definatly worth a look for those with different needs.

ye ye know what you mean but the 8 may have a big magnet but after all it still is only an 8,me mate that has 1,is at the end of his center console in front of the rear seats above the trans tunnel (ye its 4wheel drive mk2 golf)
All in all the sub its self is only 8,3/4" square by 5inches deep, so its not that big realy! and no i dont work for kicker lol.

i'm just after something with a little more power, i'm in the stages of uprating most my system ( done the front just the backs to do ) but was wondering if i'd be able to get a small sub for under the seat to give it more low end as at the moment i got mainly mids / highs.

i no that (sorry for spelling) pionear do a lil under seat sub sorta thing, designed for mr2's n stuff that hasnt got a boot, its in like a little box thing with built in amp n that!
