i shall be replacing all the plastics, carpet and seats in my astra soon (from grey to black) so thought this may be a good time to lay down some sound deadening? i know most people do it for music/bass but i was thinking of doing it just to have less road noise. Will it make that much of a difference? (i was going to use flashing tape from b&q/wickes and was going to do most of the floor, behind the dash, behind all plastics im putting back ect generally everywhere!

It's £20 a roll, 3 rolls should be more than enough, so for £60 will i notice the difference, would it be a nice quiet ride?

areas i would def do would be under the boot carpet, rear wheel tubs, under the rear seats/fronts, exhaust tunnel, and behind the door cards as they have funk all sound deadening. the bulkhead and the front floor wells have a quite thick foam so i think they would be ok with out it. if you want an idea of what the area you'll have to fill looks like, your more than welcome to take a look in my bare shell to work out the required area before buying.

cheers rob, the astra will be fully striped first anyways as i need to get all the grey crap out of it. Sure i read not to do the exhaust tunnel though as it can melt the glue and stinks a bit? although thats with the flash tape rather than proper sound deadening stuff, may be worth buying a proper roll just for that?

yeah boot will need it, was going to go behind the panels as much as i could too. Only reason im thinking about it is because i have to rip up all the old carpet ect anyways and i aint in a rush to use the astra so may aswell.
