Lucky dude, numberplate tape is dog sh*te.

I had my front pressed plate half fall off at billing.
Went into the nearest town to get some shopping and after going over a speed bump heard a gut wrenching scraping sound. Thinking the sump or something had dropped off, looked under the car but couldn't see anything, walked round the front and one half had drop down.
Glad I brought the standard plates up with me and bolted them on for the drive home.
I run the standard plates day to day for this exact reason. I'm trying to find sone REALLY strong tape or a way to mount them solid without needing tape.

Tape for number plates?

use screws!

I wasn't aware anyone ever used double sided tape for number plates, i always thought everyone around the globe screwed them on!

For some reason lots of Brits use tape, probably because it looks neater. Sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't.

I prefer to fix them on properly.

That said the one on the back of the van is taped on, bit was when I bought it.

Mine are taped, just to give it a cleaner look. One side has come off though but they're still on solid.

Used to tape so I could rip off my rear number (you no just in case) but now it's for a cleaner look although I've not done new car yet lol

Why would you need to rip it off lol

The Rear one on mine is stuck on, like since new i think.
