I made an ebay purchase on saturday hadn't seen it pictures weren't great but looked ok and it had mot till dec and 54000 miles 1 owner so thought it was worth a punt and won it for £350. so i present my compleatly standard mk2 astra 1300 merit s

well all i ask is that you dont canabilise the rear parcel shelf as untouched ones are rare as me!

It's when you look at cars of this age and realise how far interiors and specs have come. You could almost lay down underneath that dashboard! Someone nicked the engine and put in a hairdryer. Love that great big space where an airbox would be. Just a frying pan as my Dad used to say, stuck on the engine.
 
I'm quite surprised at that, it looks rather good! I wonder when we'll see a Mk1 on here.. Still, nice buy and hope the build goes well. I'm in favour of the sleeper. Perhaps a bit of modernisation wouldn't go amiss (Lights, brakes, interior and such)

So light as well compared to modern cars so they have some get up and go for small engines. Should keep it standard and have it as a gone but not forgotten show car!
