I opened my door today, got our the car and went to shut it and it wouldn't shut.

The latch/catch that fits round the 'eye' on the door frame is frozen solid (and it aint the cold).

Anyone got any ideas?

I would try blasting the catch with WD40/penetrating fluid, and using a screwdriver to free it up (as in simulating the loop on the B pillar)

No luck on this tonight, will try again tomorrow.

Any other solutions anyone?

there is 2 in the door, if wer on about the same thing,,

is it seized in the door or wer the pin goes through on the pillar?

The pin thing that latches onto the 'eye' on the frame is seized.

has the pin been mis shaped? just whack it out.. you cant leave your door open all night?

Its down my drive next to a wall :)

I'm just gonna have to see tomorrow when i have a proper look!

Mine did this, push the door lock thing down (like to lock the door) and then pull it back up (to unlock the door) and try shutting it

My car did this a few times and that always fixed it

Fixed :)

Some plastic/metal had dropped down next to the lock and stopped it closing fully.

Pushing that back up solved it good and proper :)

i have a similar problem on my passenger rear door the little arm thing doesnt go back up i have to force it up to shut the door as if dont and just swing the door closed it just makes whacks against the eye bit very annoying as a copper pulled me over the other day for a "routine check" and searched my car only for me to be not paying attention to my car and he slammed the door shut ¬.¬ and he just stood there starring at me gormlessly with me at boiling point gritting my teeth saying just leave it please........ its fine just leave it open..........

i had this problem with the drivers side rear when i change my handles to vectra ones it wouldn't close and when it did close and locked it didn't unlock or open .when i managed to open it i took the door card off and found that the plastic cover that goes over the locking mechanism where all the rods meet the catch was stopping them from moving freely. all i did was removed the cover and all works fine with no problems hope this helps

I know that mate
just got to play about with it a bit more so i can refit it to the door
