I don't know about the C18xel but the C18xe engine is documented as 125bhp but people have apperently reported getting up to 140bhp as standard. Imo that might be a bit optimistic but they have more bhp than documented

ha ha wow now 140 bhp would be good :P at college ( im a trainee mechanic )
theres a rolling road i think i may test it before i start moding the power just to see what she is pushing out.
got lots of power upgrade ideas :P

the only difference in the engines is that of the EGR valve, which reduces the C18xel to 115bhp, you can block the EGR valve on the c18xel by taking it apart and covering it up with a gasket and in theory, your car should gain 10bhp. my car is a c18xel but for some mad reason i have not got a EGR valve lol my car is totally standard for a c18xel without the EGR valve and has just had all new gaskets (head, inlet, outlet) headskimmed, reprofiled cams & just had a good service all new plugs, filters etc and it runs sweet as ever, and for redtops im tellin you it pushes them :)

all i need now is a 4 branch manifold and adjustable pullies and ill be beating them :)

FFS, you didn't even bother to read the thread did you?

THERE IS NO EGR VALVE ON THE C18XEL

The performance difference is in the cams and the ECU map, that is all.

There is also a slight difference in the cooling system, where the C18XEL has a small bore hose from the 'stat housing back to the header tank, like the X engines.

i have two C18XEL engines, one with the small bore hose from the stat to the header tank and one without the small bore on the stat, at the moment on my current engine in the car i have the stat without the small bore going to the header tank, the car runs sweet like but that wont effect it will it?? is the small bore just somesort of breather??

My best guess is that it just helps the coolant circulate when the thermostat is shut.

Does the expansion tank have the take off at the top where this small hose would normally attach? If so, where does the hose that's attached to it go?

mine 100 % does not have a egr,
i know where they bolt on and its just blank.
thanks for your help.
im changing cams anyway and a few other little mods to increase power,
either way its gonna be quick so im happy :)
