this might seem a little crazy but there is method in my madness (i think)

ive been searching the internet, auto trader, ad mags for a couple of months now
looking for a clean mk3 5 door hatch with the good old isuzu 1.7 D Turbo engine in it but with no success
all the ones i find are either too far gone with the dreaded rot or the wrong engine or a million miles away
i do have a very clean mk3 astra with only 60k on the clock its like the day it was made the only problem
its a 1.6 8v SPi which is fine but i really want another isuzu
i am a mechanic for a main Vauxhall dealer so i am able to tackle the job
i know i can fit an isuzu engine in the car
and change the relevant parts
but is there anything i may have overlooked
is it simple altering the details with the dvla
has anyone done something similar

i know it could be costly but im after a really clean astra mk3 1.7 d turbo not some old work horse thats half gone by the dreaded rot

there is only one mk3 this has been done to before. Mine lol! You'll need a tank, fuel lines, engine, ecu, weld a mount in, big block legs etc and change the clocks over too. For the thread check out skippy the cab owners diary

as for the dvla stuff, i have copys of the letters claire wrote to them and it was pretty simple. She just needed a letter from a garage stating what engine it was, engine number and fuel type. Dont think it cost her much either. Only issue ive had is ordering parts as some suppliers show it as the derv, some show the c20ne and some show a
17td petrol engine with the c20ne engine code lol!

i didnt do it myself, the previous owner did but i was in contact with her most of the way through as i was a fellow veg oil user. Tbh it wasnt that hard, especially if your a vaux mechanic

i think it should be straight forward as the engine basically jus needs a 12v ignition feed to the pump to run and the glow plug circuit plumbing in but last time i checked the looms on the petrol jus had the glow plug loom cut down so half the job is done i jus didnt want to jump into the project without doin the research my main concern was the details with the dvla

ill see if i can dig out the letters she sent this week and if you need any pictures of how its been done on mine ill try and get them for you. Dont Forget the rev counter is run off the alternator on them
