DropBox Changes

Loads of mine are dead, I don't usually mind to much, but I would have liked to keep my diary on here complete.

There is a lot of pages of shite to try and wadr through to change them though, and that's even if I can figure out what the original images were.

So, in layman's terms, you'll be hosting photos yourself?

Seems like a good idea to me, no issues with ads on hosting sites, no broken links without warning...

Seems to work well, only one extra click vs dropbox. And on my laptop I have Fn + 1 set as a macro to type in image tags, paste the link and add /download to the end of the link :)

Well after many hours bashing away at a Ubuntu Server shell, I have finally finished a final version of my Dropbox replacement :)

I bought my own domain and pointed it at my own server, setup port forwarding etc to make it publically accessible. Then set up SSL certificates and set up HSTS and memory cache and a few other things to keep things happy. Then installed OwnCloud and I am now uploading all my Dropbox stuff to it :) Best thing is it has an Android app too and the Windows app works just like Dropbox.

Once I have transferred all my files, it's going to be a pretty awful task of finding and replacing as many of my dead Dropbox links. Then delete dropbox for good! But feeling good I have accomplished this :)

Good work Cotton. Id love to do it on mine too, but I've already got stuff going out on 443 and I can't be arsed to do a layer 7 load balance setup at the moment. Maybe once I've moved.
