Have searched but cannot find, or at least I can't work out:beer:

Can someone please straighten out the engine codes/capacities for each diesel engine the mk3 Astras came with?

I'm seeing 17D, 17TD, 17DR, X17DT, X17DTL, X17DTI, Y17DT, Y17DTL, Y17DTI, but strangely the mk3's were only made with 3 different engines(?) - the naturally aspirated GM, the low-blow GM and the Isuzu turbo

cheers

I *think* 17D was the early version, 17TD was the Isuzu, and 17DR was the Vauxhall Lo-Blo.

The later ones had things like X and Y in front of them.

There was a list on Totalcarlton.com that explained all the different engine codes - a quick google should locate it :)

i have the GM low-blow in mine and its X17DTL

and im about 80% sure X17DT is the isuzu one

ive a isuzu td, i need more booooost

u can turn it up im sure, friend did it to his corsa, turned the fuel and boost up. think he turned it up too much hence why it went bang lol

I know the Isuzu is the better of the two engines and have greater tuning potential...
I've got Ph1 and Ph2 isuzu engines (bought the ph2 to take apart for learning).

There's several differences between the two including different CAM belt tensioners, inlet manifolds, heat shields, etc. I presume these will have diff engine codes.

Next time I'm under the car I'll have a look

i have the grey/silver round ish inlet on mine and its a n reg phase two car. i know the engine i have is normally seen in the cavs and the ones withthe lack square inlets on the astra's. glad though as mine was a easier to do the white ring mod
