Last night I ended up sliding the old 95 Astra 1.7TD LS along a crash barrier at about 40-30mph which took off the front bumper and grill, along with the drivers side headlight. That should be simple enough to fix though.
What I am confused about is the only gear I can select is reverse. I'm hoping it's not a gearbox problem and is just the linkages. Will it be an easy-ish repair? I'm a pretty confident home mechanic. If not then I know a relatively good/cheap mechanic.
I'm going to look at the car tomorrow as the police had it recovered as it happened on a accident hotspot apparently. If it's going to cost more than £300-400 to repair I'll probably just get it scrapped.
Any help will be grately appreciated.
