Mikes cav 2.0!!

Looking good mate, regarding the brakes your mates probobly had a v6 brake upgrade..

Nope not possible mate, V6 runs 5 stud fitment..

All I have found out so far is that vauxhall ran a 22mm and a 24mm thick disc, there is no rhyme or reasoning as to which they used on the late mk3 Cavs as most were built from the parts bin..

Mine is a odd one, it has thrown up many questions and all we can figure is as one of the last Cavs it was built from that parts bin, either that or someone has skimped on replacing parts over the years.

Also now fitted my Astra mk4 front splitter, I believe it to be the only Cav wearing one online at the moment.

To those of you that know me may have wondered if the Cav still lives...

I can tell you...Good news, she lives and is getting ready for surgery again!!

Got a massive bargain off a lad breaking a Cav Sri in southampton and relived him of a pair of electric mirrors as mine were f*cked and a black rear panel that makes the Cav look much harder I think, also scored big getting a set of genuine Depo smoked angel eyes and indi's which really toughen up the front end.

Aint gone Gsi style as have kept the standard grill and think that will be staying..

Had more welding etc done for last MOT, not sure if I had updated this or not as don't come on here that much anymore unless I am part hunting.

Just bought a new Clock / Temp gauge as mine decided to die and yes I did change the sensor, 3 times in fact and then a mate said your unit is f*cked mate so found a brand new unused one on the bay of E for 13 quid, also have bought new shocks, lower arms, Arb links, Cv boots and -40mm lowering springs which will be fitted in next couple of weeks.

Looking forward to it too as the cav handles like pooo at the moment, rolls like you would not believe when giving it some which is 99.9% of the time..Lol

Oi oi.....Been a while huh?

Well she is kind of still alive, now lowered 40mm on Gmax springs with upgraded monroe sport shocks so handles a bit better than she did.

Its mostly been a keep in going kind of experience since my last upgrades with bits failing and being replaced, unfortunately she over heated last week and now I have to have the HG replaced so having a full recon done on the top end to make her strong again.

Still love my Cavalier, the power just keeps me coming back for more even though there aint many mods out there for the C20NE engine she still pulls like a train even at 117000 miles so well happy.

Saying that I do still miss my mk3 Astra, loved that car and wish certain people hadn't f**ked me about with the work on it....Maybe she would still be around....

Sweet, Sri has a different Ecu and slightly larger pistons...

Mine is a flat c20ne (2.0i 8v) and goes well for the size of the car, get him to join up over on cavmk3oc as loads of good lads and great advice etc on there.

Did look at a Gsi a little while back but it was a rotter underneath, not many mk3 astras left out there now and could not have one unless it was a 2.0 sport or something as just couldn't get a smaller engineed motor after the Cav's grunty 2 litre.

To be honest mate, just had HG and top end rebuild on this one so no cash left for a while. Am considering selling it though and buying a mk4 Astra Turbo or Gsi spec.

See what happens in next few months I guess....
 
Broke it again!!! Lol

Yep, hit a fecking hole in the road up near Matchems / Bournemouth Airport and managed to mangle a lower arm and threw the tracking out the window, guy in the tyre shop who put it right said he was amazed the alloy wheel had not cracked or distorted as hit the hole at about 70mph on a corner so wasn't hanging about..

All sorted now but another £60 lighter which aint bad considering the parts and labour charges..

Apart from that bought a Vectra B central locking kit off of Diceboy on here, worked when I put it in and now the fob has stopped working so need to get that looked at, found a guy on ebay that repairs them so that will be a job in the near future.

Some would be pleased to hear I put the Cav up for sale a month or so ago but had NO interest at all even with MOT & Tax so decided I am going to keep her now but plans are afoot to find a mk3 Astra or mk4 Astra (maybe coupe) to build a weekend stripped out style road / track car its just trying to find any mk3's around that one are manual and two aint complete rubbish ready for the scrappers.....Really do miss my old mk3 at times, should of dumper a 2 litre in that...

Next job on the Cav anyway is to prep her for Beaulieu Simply Vauxhall show on July 28th and hope it doesnt rain all bloody day!!
 
Don't get a mk4 if your missing your mk3 mate your regret it trust me lol mk4's are miles apart from a mk3!

Must admit the mk4's dont look bad modded but have a hankering for another mk3 or a mk2 would be awesome, keep looking at Gte's but they getting expensive now...

Anyway.....

Just gone and bought new number plates as mine were fubar, got some body tape too so I don't have to go drilling them also picked up some Maguiars no water wash for once I arrive at Beaulieu.

Will have my full cleaning kit on board so if any one needs to tidy up on arrival gimme a shout.....Charge reasonable rates of bacon rolls!!:lol:
