Mk3s in Motorsport?

I have always been a fan of motorsport and in particular the BTCC. Whilst watching various old BTCC vids on youtube I found some footage of a World Cup touring car race at Monza in 93.

Basically they got together a load of the best touring car racers from around the world and had a great big fat race. I noticed about 7 mins in there is a an accident involving a mk3 astra saloon. Upon further investigation i have found it to be a driver from the Portuguese Touring Car championship in 93.

Not really of much intrest but it got me thinking, surely there must of been more mk3s used in motorsport?

so i spose this has the potential to be an interesting thread where we can post pics and videos of MK3s in motorsport...

they were used in rallying more than anything.

Big up the astra taking out the toyota in that race though

TBH the astra wasnt used as they had the Cav and the astra was the right size for rallying. a few people used the saloon in touring cars as you found - there was a steinmetz sponsored one about then aswell. but TBH i LOVE the way it looks

That saloon looks simply gorgeous

I love the old Cav touring cars aswell

cav was were it was at from a vauxhall racing point of view not least because the astra 3's dire handling
