Quick update, after a few days work and the knowledge and expertise of Ian, I have managed to get barry running again.
It seemed that I need to make sure an engine is timed correctly before trying to start it.
So the beast is running again. just got a few bits left to do and will make a decision on whether or not to take him down to Billing.

I will be at billing without a doubt. Whether Barry makes the trip is a different matter. Although I have a new thermostat coming this week which might help.
Possibly got 4 tyres lined up as well. Then it's go time.

The noise shouldn't be a problem, I'm running 2.0 8v on bike carbs and a completely straight through exhaust, nobody even moans lol
