My senior worker

I really like the re-use of the headlamp adjuster switch for the amber lights!

Much neater than just drilling a hole in the dash and sticking a random aftermarket switch in...

Thanks, i don't really like drilling into a dashboard!

If only i could find some kind of label material that i could use to stick over the symbols.

Only thing i hated about the re wiring is that weird material around the wires, some kind of foam material that's rotted away.

had a call at 1 am, fire department vehicle's alternator belt snapped. Nothing too damaging but the fire department had to send a different crew to the call.
They got back to base safely.

Here's some pics of what my astra looks on duty!

Like a bloody christmas tree!

I am pondering on installing a work light inside the trunk, so that when the trunk is open a fog light or so shines backwards

That's cool! Yeah, a light in the back would be ideal.

I've just stuck some more photos of my rear load lamp in my diary thing. If your boot is always open when you're working (which I'm assuming it is), and the boot closes gently, then you could mount it in the inside of the boot lid, then it would be out of the way and fairly high up.

Have you not considered adding some more orange leds onto the actual tailgate itself? Really, you want them to be as high up as possible so people see them from as far back as possible, and they'd be hidden when the boot is closed which is a plus also!?

Just an idea
Yes, i am fully aware on where to mount strobes.

Before these small LED's, i had a light bar for the roof, trough the roof rack mounts. But those were old Xenon strobes. Sucked the battery dry within an hour. These little 6 watt (3watt / LED) were mounted on the trunkplate because the lightbar was blocked when the trunk was opened.
After a few years i had to get rid of the lightbar as the xeon bulbs were getting more expensive to order than the lightbar itself was worth, so the company did not bother.

Not a huge fan of fat halogen ones, and LED lightbars are ridiculously expensive.
And im only given a small funding by the local EMS to equip my vehicle. so i used maybe 300 on the windshield strobe.
The vehicle passed PVI inspection. Meaning that it was visible enough for the government.

I do still plan on adding a new roof lightbar, just for the sake of being visible from the side. Which is handy when towing a vehicle.
This will be the one i'll mount: http://www.code3pse.com/products/product_info/Warn/Lightbars/H_DF

But i'll have to wait on EMS to fund it. But they too know that a proper lightbar is worth four times what my car is worth.

EDIT: Didnt notice your closed boot comment, These LED strobes are visible with the boot both open and closed. You can see that in some older pics of the rear on this diary :) 3 Watt LED's are blinding, so there is no point is adding them higher as they are visible from 100m+, and blinding at 50m.

I'd take a spare wheel with you... Lol. Looks okay though.
So you start looking for an estate and then find a hatchback? ...always the way!

Weird how things roll in Belgium! D:
But yeah she looks decent enough to use, the seller is being very vague over the phone tho. This will be my last attempt for now, i saw a lovely Vectra C turbo diesel for 4k. I quite like those too.

I gold is usually a good colour that doesn't go rusty

Two terrifying Letters...

G M

Also the interior was crap, all seats torn and the seatbelts were full of mold.
These cars really do not age well it seems xD

No new ads for astra's have turned up on the internet, so for now i'm looking into Vectra C estates, they have a lovely 1900 cdti.
I need towing powah!

Yeah but its registered as a 1.7TD, you have a 1.7TD in your Saloon, you can swap everything!

I'll more than likely be going for an Astra H, 1.7td, estate. I've been aiming for the same era vehicles for the last 10 years, about time I went newer!

Sadly they don't share the same engine type, which is a must for Belgian swaps!

It scares me that they're already 10+ years old xD

I like the Vectra's headlights more than the Astra's

It's nearly the same engine. What kind of details do you have to give them then?

Needs the same engine code, bore and output. Otherwise it's deemed as "Engine tuning" Which is illegal here.

yes, even the engine code.
