i got a 96 astra its a phase 2 but i think my headlight on the passenger side is a phase 1 cos the grill dont fit prperly on that side can anybod help me. how different are they?

the headlights are slightly different (have a different angle to them i think)

Im sure its only the top inner corner of the headlight which is different. They are interchangable but it does show up on the grill.

glass lenses are different shape (only subtle) on head lights

Dunno about the entire list, but:

Headlights,
Grille,
Clear indicators on all Ph2's
Round side repeaters Ph1, Oval Ph2 (Ph1 wing needs modifying to fit later repeaters)
3 speeds on Ph1 blower, 4 speed on Ph2,
Door mirrors,
mounting holes on Ph1 bonnet hinges are closer together (or is it further apart lol) than Ph2's.
Ph2 estate rear lights are slightly tinted compared to Ph1
Different rear lip spoilers on Ph1/Ph2 5-door hatches
Early antirollbar links are awkward press on type, later are bolt on.

Ph2 had black boot panel

also do some searching as list has been made before.

Has any1 else noticed that its only ever the passanger indicator lense that falls off?? must be some kind of flaw. I've either had mine fall off or find one in the glove box when I buy a mk3 an I've had a few of them now.

you know your right mate, iv had 3 fall off in my time and they have all been passanger side ?

I noticed the drivers side loose one morning so popped into the garage down the road for some silicon. Got it all nicely fasten back on, bought the car home, got 30 yrds from the house and the passenger side lens fell off, under the wheel and splintered to pieces. I was NOT amused.

you have a point there m8 my passenger 1 fell of aswell and the passener 1 fell off on my old mk3 aswell

And the plastic door mouldings are a lot deeper on the Ph1s. Ph2s have a thinner strip.!!

How could you forget that???

I've seen some ph1's with the black boot panel.

im sure my gsi is ph1 but it has the black boot panel? im confused

It was standard on GSi's wasn't it...?

I've seen lower spec ph1's with the boot panel.
Cesaros etc.

Unless the ones i've seen have all had the panel fitted, or a ph2 boot fitted.

i can clearly tell my gsi is a phs 1 by the handles, spoiler etc. they must have came with the boot panel.
