Project 4x4 astra

i was asking because it can't attach to the hub lol, the wheels have to be on and the car on the ground lol. the drive shaft nut thing make sense however that needs to be 110% perfectly straight weld of the gauge won't read properly....

Yes I agree with you about the welding. It's perfect and you can give it a good tighten onto the driveshaft thread.

And if the head of the nut is 90 degrees to the shaft or is a bit out with the threads. Easily shown when if you attach the gauge whilst doing it up slowly it will show any runout.

Great idea though and sure it will do the job perfectly.

Yeah you are right rc. There is no runout when screwing it onto the driveshaft and tightens up nicely. Hopefully have a play with it on Sunday when back my holiday.

Wow long time since I last posted on here, alot has happened for the good. Became a dad in 2017 and finally got a garage built and moved the astra into it yesterday. Which I'm over the moon about. I haven't done anything major on the astra over the years but did get a quicker time down the quarter mile at Crail last July. (12.50s) then next run disaster. Lost oil pressure at about 100 mph. So that was game over and the car just sat at the farm until now. So gave it a quick wash with my son. Pictures don't show how badly it was. Needs a good polish and some TLC. Also got the engine out to see what had went wrong.
As you can see in the pictures of the engine, oil pump has failed. So going to pull the engine apart and see what's needing done.

It's not going to be a quick build, as and when money allows.

Thanks

Gazturbo

Gutted but good to see it alive in away still.

Orange actually suites the car, I'm shocked

whats the plan then gaz?

Going to build another engine. Bought a dry sump system, so going down that route. Will be different turbo and management. I feel the car needs some decent power.
Hopefully get into the 11s or better. All when money allows. Seems when I have money no parts come up and have no money parts turn up. Will be a slow build I think.
