Project 4x4 astra

Well i have been looking into strengthening my transfer box, but it looks a bit expensive from some places, so going to be adding my own strengthening plates. Possibly 5-6 mm plate. So first of had to get a couple of spare transfer boxes.

Managed to get these 2 for £200 delivered, so i now have 3.

Woweee. You're fairly throwing money down the drain everytime you s**t one out then. Mind you, vauxhall 4wd systems have never been any good, I've heard even the 4wd insignias are utter rubbish systems. Hope you can get one to stay in one piece

Yeap mate, it's not the best having to fork out all the time. But needs must. Hopefully the strengthening plates will help, if not looking into going vag haldex system. That's along way away.

Well not done much since Billing. Went to a show at Lochgelly for Ultimate Scottish Vauxhall and got runner up in best modified.

So onto this weekend, picked my new adjustable mounts up at Billing, so wanted to fit them. A lot better made than last ones. might change how i've spaced them on the spring cup.

So ive ordered a digital camber castor gauge so when that arrives i will get them adjusted.

Got an old school version of that at work, it's like a spirit level bubble, and you wind the gauge until the bubble is level and that tells you the camber angle lol.

Top mounts look sweet!

Sounds similar to the one we use on my mates racing car, think it's a longacre one. Fancied buying my own, just need to make time set it up and go a blast.

Here is a picture of my Supertracker camber caster gauge, just waiting on an adapter being made for the hub.

Ah yes they had them where I used to work. They clamped onto the tracking gauges. Not sure if I can get the old school gauges on my car tho.

Don't normally do the tracking on my car, kwik fit did it for me for awhile with the fancy machine they have. But fancy doing it myself. The Supertracker gauges didn't fit on mine, but slightly raised it so now i can use them.

so how does that attach to the wheel?

Its meant to mount on the Supertracker alignment gauge with the addition of a metal plate, but i don't have that, so i have made up a bracket using a driveshaft nut, box section and plate. So that should do for what i need.

i was asking because it can't attach to the hub lol, the wheels have to be on and the car on the ground lol. the drive shaft nut thing make sense however that needs to be 110% perfectly straight weld of the gauge won't read properly....
