Remote CL

think again lol.

a couple of guys on here bought those universal kits on ebay and they had a c*nt of a time getting them fitted. your other option is to get a clifford or toad and get it pro fitted, but this will obv cost quite a bit more.

Piece of cake. Search for a 'Falcon' remote kit. It's about £30. It'll lock and unlock the doors whilst flashing the indicators and has a carbon effect remote that is the same style as the Clifford remotes but is actually better quality. It also has a function for shutting the windows (extra box required) and popping the boot (just need a solenoid for that).
You can do all the wiring behind the glove box.
All you need is a red (12V), black (ignition 12V), brown (ground), black/ white (RHD indicator), black/ green (LH indicator), brown/ red (lock wire) and brown white (unlock wire). It's that easy.

Yep, that's the one. It's really nicely made, the missus has it fitted to her Sport. I bought her the window kit as well, but I must admit the wiring has gone over my head a bit as the supplied diagram is not very well laid out.
The remote locking kit is very easy though, took me about 30 mins to swap it from her Nova. I'd recommend soldering all the joints, don't crimp or use scotch locks.

nice Dan think I might try this out

Dan is right, ive got one similar to the falcon one - buts its pretty much a no make one but works in the exact same way.

Took me about 30mins to sort it all. Cant live without it now! lol

Also, i can have a quick look at mine and detail what wires go to what on ur central locking unit if u need it.

...providing you buy one of their systems

Looks ok, I hope that each remote is a separate frequency to other Falcons. I only mention it because it is a very good price (i.e. too cheap!) and wouldn't want the embarrasment of someone else being able to open my car.

I'm looking at getting something like this aswell, but found this...

Note 1. Central Locking
If your central locking system only operates from the drivers door key (not the passengers) then you will need a 2 wire motor for your drivers door.

can someone shed some light on this? do you need new motors for the central locking? or are standard MK3 items ok?

At a guess I'd say it's like any alarm system, it picks a random code from a few thousand at random. When you first power the Falscon systems up, you program the two remotes into it that come with it and you can add more remotes later via a program mode.

All mk3s have a decent enough system as standard. What they mean is some lesser cars (and older cars, like Mk2 Astras) only have a switch in the driver's door, obviously saving the cost of a motor.
To confirm, simply lock your car from the outside, using the key, in the PASSENGER door. The car should lock exactly the same as from the driver's door, except you can't deadlock it.

As an added feature, fit rear door handles to the front, delocking both front doors for a little extra security.

Iv asked this question to the guy who sells them on ebay form the same site thats linked back up the page and he said
PHP:
had to check with an installer on this one. Unfortunatley you can't do the deadlocking on either of those as it is mechanical deadlocking. The Phaser will operate the standard central locking just not the deadlocking.
so all we need is just the standerd unit he sells with nothing else extra needed!

ive got standard vaux alarm, and it locks both sides, not to sure about the shutting the windows with key in door, as i've never tried it!!!...I use to have alarm on my old mk3 (1.4lsi) with remote locking, but was fitted when i got it. Was a shark alarm i think, but if i fitted this would it affect the standard alarm or would that not arm as i'm not deadlocking it with the key?

i like the idea of a keyless entry system for mine.. mmmmmm

but would it be tricky?

The remote locking kits above simpy operate the central locking and do not arm or deadlock out of the box. You can use a timer relay I belive to operate the alarm and dead locks, but the driver's door will only deadlock from the key.
