Rockingham Stages 2015 – 5th & 6th Dec

Rockingham Stages rally this weekend 5th/6th Dec so if anyone is at a loose end pop along as it's a great event click here for further info. Starts midday on Saturday and runs into late afternoon then 9am until around 4pm on Sunday. Last two stages on Saturday are in the dark and cars start at 30 second intervals so plenty of action taking place around the circuit as it’s a tarmac event. I’ll be servicing car 49 (Astra mk2) so pop and say hello as we don’t bite. Seeded entry list is here for those interested in the machinery taking part.

Prepping last weekend.

After a successful days stages we were completing a final spanner check ready for tomorrow and found a leaking caliper piston seal. With no spare 4 pots or seals we cleaned up, ate food & now on our way back to Mansfield Woodhouse to grab the front brakes on my mates other mk2 rally car. Plan is to fit them tomorrow morning. Probably back in accommodation for 01:30 then up at 06:00 to fit them.

Not the best weekend. After getting my head down at 01:40 on Sunday morning and up at 06:40 we got the brakes fitted but the cable gear shifter decided to continue to play up. We had issues on Sat with it but on Sunday it got the best of us and we could only get 1st, 3rd, 5th and reverse as the wire winding inside the cable had bunched up meaning it was unable to pull through the sheathing to get 2nd and 4th. No spare cable so it was game over. After 3 stages we called it quits and missed the last 3 stages. The car was fighting us all weekend.
