on mig poeple seem to think that i could turbo my 1.6 16v.
i know most poeple go for the 2ltr choice but i wanted something different.
any you guys know how easy it would be to do or how long it would roughly take?

any help would be appreciated ;)

you could turbo it, not a majorly had job to do. i remember either Courtney or Regal playing with turbo's for the 1.6 a while back, might be worth foning them and see what they say. or speak to DaveBB on here, he does alot with various tuning companies ;)

thanks hun ;)

a bag of sand to turbo a 1.6

i'd spend the same money and get a LET !!

more power, easier to fit, more tunable, same cost.

i would go for the 2ltr but its too common, wanted to do something different.
;)

3.0 V6 twin turbo ;) stick 1 of them under your bonnet and come pick me up ;)

there was a mk3 with ^^ engine in from an Omega round our way somewhere, Rieger wide arch kit, the works.

was built by a company called MW Performance and it was an absolute monster !! mate of mine who helped build it said that it was stupidly fast but most of the power was unusable because they couldnt get it on the road !! last i heard i think it'd blown a piston or 4 and was getting a 2.5 V6 put in instead.

i know what you mean about wanting to do something different hun, but why change an engine for the sake of changing it ?? if you want more power go the tried and tested route - its cheaper and easier and the advice and help is already out there ;)

roughly how much would a 2ltr turbo make insurance rise by??
i know its different for the individual but if any u guys turbo'ed your engines what sort of rise am i looking at??

add a turbo to anything and its gonna cost at least £200. if i LET'd mine i'd go from £590 to £900 fully comp.

technically nitrous should be under a special insurance category anyway - normal car insurance doesnt cover you to carry compressed air in your car, and you need warning stickers to be displayed on the boot of your car to warn other drivers.

were not even allowed to carry our diving cylinders (normal compressed air) in our cars when we go shooting, we had to get another policy through the gun club :thumbdown

As for going turbo. TB's would be cheaper, or as dogsy said C20LET or how about a Z20LET (as in the Zaf GSi, Astra GSi '03 and the base for the engine in the Astra VXR)?

how much would a 2ltr turbo set me back?
saw one not long ago from a calibra,

cheaper to buy a whole cav or calibra turbo - if you've got the space. take the engine and everything you need, and sell everythin off. should get your money back. if you just bought the engine, you looking around a grand, plus 300 for a f28 box.
