A big hello from mk3oc! It has been an eventful year to say least but to bring us joy and something to look forward too, news from the VBOA committee is that the rally 2021 is booked and ready for action! I know alot of us were very disappointed at the cancellation of 2020 but this just mean that we can get 2021 in gear and hopefully have a great turn out.

Press release from the committee........

Good Evening,
It has been a tough year for all, and we have a glimmer of hope and joy for you.
We have booked Sywell Aerodrome for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of July 2021.

The event will be dedicated to Ian Virco who sadly passed away on the 6th of December. He was a fabulous force of good not just within the VBOA community but also with the wider car community.

All bookings (hotel, camping, day tickets etc) made for the 2020 event will be honoured for 2021. A new confirmation email will come out to all who booked in 2019/2020 to gain entry to the 2021 show.

Please pass this information around your clubs, we will post the same information on the social media pages 24 hours after this email has been sent. It is inevitable that the information will make it to the VBOA page(s) but it wont be from the Events team or Committee.

We will open the 2021 event shop on the website in the coming days, and update everything accordingly.

Stay safe and stay positive,

VBOA Events Team & Committee

Any questions feel free to drop myself an Email and I will get back to you with all the info I have.

Regards

We are pleased to announce the VBOA Rally 2021 running from the 2nd to the 4th of July at Sywell Aerodrome.

Due to Covid-19, It is intended that we will run a COVID safe event (within govt rules and regulations), but where government restrictions prevent the show from going ahead, you will be offered a refund or where available you will be able to roll your booking to the next available date.

Come and join one of the largest gatherings of Vauxhall, Bedford, Opel and other GM branded products in the UK. Show your car with an affiliated club or just come to appreciate some rare cars. There is a full programme of arena entertainment, Motorsport taster session (Saturday only), and static displays from 30+ clubs covering models from 1903 all the way through to current production.
Children’s rides and activities including a great climbing wall will be available for an additional charge of £5 per day for unlimited rides / climbs.
There will also be food stalls and trade stalls.
Camping is available on site and a live music will be playing for those staying on Friday and Saturday nights.

Admire the type of cars you wished you had never sold, the type of cars your parents had when you were a child, the type of cars you wish you owned, the type of cars you learnt to drive in or had road trips with your friends in!. Chat with others that are passionate about their cars in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Booking can be made over the phone If you REALLY cannot use a booking system, on 07537979054, please note that the person(s) taking the call are volunteers and may not be able to take your call immediately please leave a name, number and ideal time to call back if you are unable to get through. WhatsApp is active on this number too.

As the VBOA Rally 2021 will be held on an Airfield, it is imperative that no one from your booked party (adults or children) cross the the fencing or barriers between our area and the live part of the airfield. Anyone seen or caught crossing the fence/barrier will be ejected from the event and banned from 2022’s event.

NOTE: Camping is free Sunday night. There is no camping Thursday night, but there are hotel rooms available

Hi Guys, an update from the VBOA in regards to the rally. Things are looking really positive and even with the uncertainty of the latest update from the goverment, it will have no effect on the show as detailed below!

NOTE Please don't forget to buy your club stand pass from the club shop here before you come to the show...... Stand Pass

Show Booking Information
As per the communications we put out in April, the NEW confirmation emails will be coming out to all who booked in "mid" June, we are targeting the weekend of the 12/13th June. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell your club members this!!!

As a reminder, Hotel bookings do NOT include show entry by default, we note that many hotel bookings do not have entry bookings to go with them, please remind your members of this. We will aim to send a reminder email out around the same time as the new confirmation mail (and posting for those who requested that).

The link for the booking page is here:

Show Update
Bookings are creeping up as we get closer. We understand there is some concern as to the 21st June restriction lifting, but even without that we can still go ahead as there have been and will be car shows happening in the current restrictions. The only things it would mean for us is masks in the Bar and limited numbers at tables (should the 21st be delayed).

We are still pushing to have a live action arena where attendees can run their car on a handling/sprint course at whatever level of commitment they wish to. Booking for that is here https://vboa.org.uk/index.php/product/live-action-vboa-members/

We have lots and lots of fencing, which will be open for you and your club members to promote their businesses/clubs/whatever (keep it clean), booking for that is here https://vboa.org.uk/index.php/product/advertising-banner-space-2021/

Layout/Map will be release approx 1 week before the show, but please bear in mind this can be a live map and changes can happen on the day of marking out. We will have QR codes and Printed maps onsite so that the latest show information can be found.

There is NO camping/caravanning onsite or in the carparks for the Thursday night.

We are all very excited for the event and cant wait to get there to see you all again.

Stay safe and stay positive, see you SOON!!!!!

VBOA Events Committee

Thanks Everyone

I have a question regarding booking ... If I should've put this elsewhere could admin move it please.
Anyway.. as per booking goes for one day, Sunday, am I right in that it will cost me £5 per person( £10 for 2 people), plus £5 for my car both from the VBOA website, plus £7.50 for a stand pass from MK3OC = £22.50 for the day?

What if I did not want to show my car, or came in a different car, would that then be £5 per person from the VBOA ( £10 in total) and there would be a car park to leave what ever i drove down in? Or as I'm not showing a car would I have to pay the £7.50 per person for public entry?

Hi,

sorry I have only just seen this message. I have never actually looked at the day cost, I have never noticed that the cost is for a car and for a person. It used to always just be for the car!

Seems like you are correct then for showing the car on the day is £22.50 which is expensive!
There is a public carpark for non show cars. so this would just be 10quid entrance fee.

Drop me a message and I will look into it for you.

Will the community bbq be running over the weekend?

No this year andy, as neither I or Andy are gonna be there its a bit much to ask of dan to run this aswell, it will return next year though!

Hi,

This is what I paid for entry?

VBOA Member Day Tickets – SHOW ONLY → VBOA Members Day Entry (per person) - Sunday2£10.00
VBOA Member Day Tickets – SHOW ONLY → VBOA Members Car Entry (per car) - Sunday1£5.00

Erm is that from your email? Those things have nothing to do with the club, if u booked you would of done it directly through the vboa site....

I understand the entry price for us but not sure on the parking? Is this for general parking or can you put it in the owners club area? Billing was one price happy days. Park where you club is and enjoy:thumb:

That get you and your car into the show. You also have to buy a club stand pass which is in the shop priced £7.50. That allows your car to be on the club stand. Unfortunately because of the price of the public liability insurance we have to charge this, the same reason you have to be a club member to be on the stand as that is in the terms of the insurance.

Ok, cool.

I was just planning out what food to buy etc, I’ll just buy my own if need be.

Is there only six going? Im only gonna do the saturday day

Yea numbers are a bit light this year mate due to various reasons, moving house, stag do, covid etc but even with only 2 or 3 people it was agreed that we should still have a stand as, if anything, it just gives you somewhere to park your car in the show!

We have a bbq that needs a premiere so will bring it along aswell x

Also with covid restrictions it could be a minefield of things to do with PPE etc
