I think what you've done with car is brilliant it really shows how versatile these mk3 Astra's are n the thread is a brilliant read

Today my Astra did a 'Frosty'.

On the plus side I now know the engine management light still works!

Unfortunately it appears to be camera shy, as it turned off as soon as I tried to get a photo...

When it comes onto mine, it's usually a shitty sensor.

But when the EML comes on a mk3, it's usually serious xD

Nah, it used to come on every time I went up a steep hill!

I was very surprised it didn't come on while I was at the Peak District...

Everytime I changed an engine in a mk3 or did a head gasket it put the eml on afterwards. They always ran fine so I just ignored them. I got worried when they weren't on.

Argh.

Those followers of this car on Facebook will be aware there was a lack of oil. This is now sorted.

EML still keeps coming on.
Idle is rough, car smells like it's running rich.

There is play somewhere in the steering, and it squeaks as well.

To add to it all, the aftermarket alarm has broken, again. But this time it won't disarm. Joy.

I can fix anything.

See.

Broke down!

Started misifiring, then lost engine completely.

Got to start briefly, sounds like it was running on one cylinder.

Rocker too off, all looks okay. Cambelt still there.

I undid the screw cap on the fuel rail, and poked the valve, got a hiss but no fuel. Should fuel come out?

On wondering if the filter has clogged...
