if i go stand alone management, e.g omex etc, will i lose my trip comp functions?

e.g mpg/range/instant mpg/average speed

or does it just piggy back off the sensors and work the rest out itself?!

cheers

Yeah you will lose that. It works off the speed signal and fuel signal, and you'll lose the fuel signal running the aftermarket management. Not sure if you can wire it back in, but it may well use a different signal and be in-accurate.

I lost mine apart the the stop watch iirc lol

Well worth it though mate.

Got two oppions then havnt you

i want more horse power, and i want it done properly, but i still want it to look standard thats what i want!

It will be worth it, I have an normally aspirated xe pushing 227bhp/230ft/lb and still on the std plenum. The OMEX gave me 30 bhp and the torque lift

Changed the box, fitted an LSD and 4.5 crown wheel & pinion, now gets to 60 in 4.9 :-)

fitting a ATB imo would be better for road use.

But back to managment. You cant have the best of both worlds unless your awesome with electronics ect

Having it put on stand alone will make the car dirive so much better if its mapped propperly. Not just more power. The problem with the std ECU and chips are that they are all generic (sp) maps so fit some engines better than others.

engine spec please :)?

engine spec please :)?

Bored out 0.5mm to 2022, lightened and balanced flywheel (clutch plate balanced to suit), crank , steel rods with ARP bolts, forged pistons, block skimmed, head skimmed (twice & can't remeber how much has come off). The camms were hand made to suit the std ecu & were a little wilder than off the shelf stuff (kent etc), vernier pulley's and an adjustable fuel reg. The exhaust is a harry hockley group A stainless system with heat wrapped manifold and the obligatory K&N. That got to 200 bhp on the rollers, the OMEX gave a further 27bhp and loads more torque.

Just re-fitted the engine today so it will be going on the rollers in the next 4 - 6 weeks once run in (had to have a re-build as the guy who fitted the OMEX & mapped it lost a small bolt....it turned up a few miles later in No3 cylinder).

The gearbox also helps loads, the 4.5 (opposed to the std 3.55) makes acceleration swifter but you suffer at the top end, 127mph@ 7000rpm.

Yes, only joined the forum last week after years of people saying...you ought to get on there, so I have done it to shut them up!!. As for my 12 posts, last week I had one.

Don't have an owner diary, but if you want to know...I bought the car from Inverness 5 years ago as a stage prepared car, when I got the car it was in poor state, I spent 18 months doing it up (new roof skin, quarters, wings, suspension, transmission and engine)and have road rallied (still carries the log book) it succesfully for the last 3 1/2 years, finishing 2nd or 3rd in last years EMAMC r/r championship. Previous to this I rallied 2 MK2 GTE's for many years

This year has seen a spot of bother with the loom failing on 2 events (the later also back fed the ECU and finished it off, thus the addition of the OMEX) and the strut colapsing on another thus re-aranging the front end with 10 x 4" fence posts.

Engine was re-fitted on Saturday following the aforementioned bolt issue, still waiting to to get a new thermostat gasket from the dealer (Thursday) before getting her going again. From there it will need the cursory running in period before visiting Northampton Motorsport for a session on the rolers. Next event 4/5th December.

Defo get a diary started with lots of pics

And a pic of your RR graph showing your 230lbs/ft N/A XE on the standard plenum...
