GLS project

had a couple hours in the garage 2nyt cracked on a took the front subframe off. stripped it down and primed it. i was rather shocked at 1 bottom arm. u.will see why and it had been replaced.

lucky enough ive got 2 new bottom arms to go on. 2morra morning will have the cradle done black.
 
last owner replaced it due to been bent off a kerb or summet. hasnt lasted that long. then expects me to buy a pair off him lol more give me them. as it only ran for 2month or so on the replacement then head gasket failed. so a bought it

started the suspension legs. brakes and tie rod arms have seen better days.

steering arms are gonna need a good soaking before i even attempt to loosen them. rather straight aswell

ive now painted the legs black with the bottom half white. pics 2morra also got my lowering springs to fit but need another bilstein damper before a can do that.unless i can get it reconned. thats it for now
 
the 1.6 brakes look like 2litre discs and calipers think il have to get my measuring device out and see.
 
They are mate, 256mm :)
 
They all were apart from all 8v 1.4's and 1.6 spi's? Even the 1.6 mpi my gf used to have had 256 set up :)

Very nice fella its starting to take shape for you now mate
 
yeah slowly but surely. next is ARB and new drop links. steering arms new tie rods. once all the painting is done il get back in the engine bay finish it off. then find a doner for a heart transplant get that all painted up. then just after winter hopefully she be about ready to have the rieger front fitted. find a set of skirts ph2s and a spoiler.

thats the plan but some how i dont wanna be pullin engines out in the snow lol

need a colour for steering arms. i hate that green.

colours were. white blue and orange but some how ive got red instead

my time is on a nyt tym couple hours after work sum times till 10pm gettin stuff done.

last nyt a freed the steering arms. they were tighter than a ducks ass. but nothin beats me.

stripped them down. original tie rods still fitted i couldnt believe it and never been tracked. so counted the turns off for both and wrote them down. including the threaded bar counted the turns out on that. cleaned the arms down in thinners and brush primed them now they look brand new. need a top coat colour for them hmmm... black a reckon. soaked the threads in used gear oil and wound them.back in. just need the new ends and their done. pictures tonight. also gonna start the ARB wile am waitin on paint to dry.

also matched the calipers with 2litres their the same bonus.
 
tonights couple of hours got me the steering arms painted steel grey. ARB de-krusted sanded back. washed off and primed. also the ARB brackets got cleaned and primed.

all in 2 hours. tommorow il have the ARB painted red and the brackets done steel grey then get a start on the brake calipers.
 
cheers lads. was on it again 2nyt got the ARB painted red. ARB brackets painted Steel grey. steering arm bracket and bolts cleaned and painted Steel grey.

started the calipers 2nyt stripped them right down. nocked all krust off. sanded them back wire brushed them. and primed them.

still have the carriers todo. then buy all new discs. pads tierod ends. drop links.
