So, thought I'd put up a diary on this new car I've bought as a hack. Trouble with my X20XEV is that shes getting to the point (or rather beyond the point!) where she can be used everyday.... Its just costing WAY too much fuel! Im into single figures on MPG plus the fact that the supercharger project on it will probably leave me stranded when it breaks down lol

Anyway, here she is (I know most will have seen her already but will use this as a VERY SLOW diary lol)-

Story with it is that it was owned by the last elderly man for 14 years but now had to buy an automatic. He tried to sell her but then changed his mind a few times before letting her finally go to me! When I went to collect the car from the owner him and his wife said their goodbyes which were pretty emotional!

Id love one of these. Not that my 1.4 isn't good, but I would love the economy.

Shes a few marks here and there and I will clean her up a little but this will be a cheap hack to use, will try to look after her but wont be wanting to spend much on her if you know what I mean.... been looking at alloys but again, not wanting to spend much I'll probably end up throwing my old 17"s on and make her a 4x4!

I'll be honest, I dont like the cone filter.... I prefer the OE look and im not sure if this will really let it breath any easier in reality. I AM however going to do the polo trick to get it giving more fuel on boost and play around with other bits as I go on but dont want to go mad!

My brother bought a 1.4 8 valve but for me to justify another car AND keep the GSI insured so I can use her as a weekend toy ect. then the 2nd car had to be VERY cheap to run. Will be insured with 0 no claims bonus as their on the GSI and cant be used on both at the same time unfortunately

Same for me. 0 NCB. Wasn't too bad to insure thankfully.

I kinda want one. Don't get me wrong I love my car to bits, but there are times when I wanna just chug along in pure spongy comfort
